About us

Empower LATAM was born through a lot of questioning and conclusions that come to everyone's minds when thinking about our community. Questions like: What is obstructing our walk to excel? How can we avoid these obstructions? How can we reach excellence? Through all these questions, we concluded that access to education and resources is the key to being ready for all the challenges thrown at us. This is why our charity will empower the young Latin American community through education and guide them to excellence!

#tbt Last July I had the honour to attend the Empower LATAM UK Mentorship Graduation Ceremony at Amazon offices in London. 📊There are nearly 250000 Latin-Americans living in the UK, which around 145000 reside in London according to the last UK census in 2011. 💸But we are more than stats and remittances which for my country Ecuador represents an important income stream, and it’s projected to be around $6500B USD or 5.3% GDP in 2025. 🚀We are a talented and vibrant community who is excelling in different industries. It was truly inspiring to listen and to share all those challenges, language barriers and even adaptation processes that we all as migrants experienced when we moved to the UK🇬🇧, but also the mindset, perseverance and dedication that now is leading the way and opening doors to the next generations 🤓 To my amazing mentor Gabriella Nolan, thank you for your advice, enthusiasm and guidance. 👏👏👏Special kudos to all the Empower LATAM UK team for this awesome mentorship programme, and all the work you’re doing, you’re brilliant! #empowerlatamUK #latinos #graduation #london

  • LAMP 2025 Graduation Ceremony 🏆 Last Friday, 4th of July, we had the graduation of the 2025 cohort who took part in Empower LATAM UK’s Latin American Mentorship Programme (LAMP)! The ceremony included 200 people, including mentees and mentors who took part in the LAMP, as well as the partners who made it possible. The event began with an introduction from the Empower LATAM UK team, a word from the event sponsors Latinos @ Amazon London Chapter) and a keynote speech from Ana María Roura (BBC), who has been a LAMP mentor for several years. After handing out the certificates to the mentees and mentors who completed the programme, several of them spoke about their experience and the impact it's had. We want to give a big thank you to everyone who made the ceremony such a special event! And also to the Latinos @ Amazon London Chapter for hosting and sponsoring the event. LAMP will return in 2026!

  • LAMP 2025 Mentee & Mentor moments: Frida Elizabeth Ramírez Ortiz & Arianna Carrizo-Ruiz! We’re showcasing some of the mentee/mentor partnerships that we’ve created as part of LAMP 2025. This time we have some great photos from the sessions that Frida (mentee) and Ariana (mentor) have had during the LAMP 2025. This is what Frida had to say about her experience: “When I matched with Ari, I didn’t know what to expect — but from our first conversation, it felt easy to connect. We’re not identical, but our personalities complement each other in ways that made every session feel both natural and deeply meaningful. I live in Glasgow, but life brought me to London for a while — and that opened the door to meet her in person. In our first meeting she invited me to the Braze offices, where she works. I got to see her in her element — leading with clarity, kindness, and confidence. I left feeling inspired and full of questions — the good kind, the ones that move you forward. Since then, we’ve shared more than just insights. From conversations at an Empower LATAM UK event to a long talk under the heat of a 32-degree day, we’ve explored everything from career paths to inner doubts. She’s guided me through mock interviews, asked me the tough questions, and reminded me — consistently — to trust what I bring to the table. Mentorship, at its best, brings out the best in you. That’s what this has been. I’m still learning, still growing, but I carry this experience with me — and I’m so grateful for it.” We want to congratulate both for the amazing mentorship relationship that they’ve created. It shows the power of mentorship for young Latin Americans in the UK. #empowerlatamuk #LAMP #latinamericans

  • LAMP 2025 Mentee & Mentor moments: Ronny 🇪🇨 & Juan Carlos 🇪🇨 We’re showcasing some of the mentee/mentor partnerships that we’ve created as part of Empower LATAM UK's LAMP 2025. This time, we have photos from the sessions that Ronny (mentee) and Juan Carlos Yepez Franco (mentor) have had during their LAMP 2025 experiences. During one of their sessions, Juan Carlos visited the store that Ronny runs (The Latin Choice) and interviewed him as part of a video that appeared on the Anglo-Ecuadorian Society. In another of their sessions, Juan Carlos took Ronny to visit Wanis International Foods – the biggest importer of international food in the UK. Ronny had the chance to talk to one of the owners of Wanis, as well as have a tour of their facilities. As Ronny is interested in expanding his business and exploring the world of international trade, experiences like these are invaluable. We want to congratulate both Ronny and Juan Carlos for the amazing mentorship relationship that they’ve created. It shows the power of mentorship for young Latin Americans in the UK. #empowerlatamuk #mentorship #latinamericans
