Join us for the last of the summer weather at Isometric’s London Climate Community Drinks on Wednesday, September 3. We’ll be gathering on the rooftop terrace of our London office from 6:00pm for an evening of conversation with people from across the climate sector—plus cold drinks and snacks. Whether you’re a regular or it’s your first time—sign up now via the link in the comments.

Meet Blue Skies Minerals GmbH—they’re permanently storing atmospheric carbon dioxide in mine tailings—and they’ve just listed on the Isometric Registry. Blue Skies’ Carbonated Tailings Process takes carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere—through technologies like Direct Air Capture—and reacts it with the minerals in mine tailings. This reaction forms stable carbonate minerals, which lock away the carbon dioxide, ready for permanent storage. This approach also prevents potentially harmful metals from leaching out of the mine tailings, helping to tackle another important environmental challenge. Find out more about Blue Skies at the link in the comments.

Isometric has certified the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Accounting Module following a comprehensive public consultation. The module replaces protocol-by-protocol GHG accounting requirements with a universal framework that strengthens scientific rigor and transparency across all carbon removal pathways. In addition to requirements already included in Isometric protocols, it introduces several key updates, including a framework for what constitutes high-quality emissions data, a threshold for materiality, and clear evidence and transparency requirements for carbon removal delivered as a co-product or when project emissions are amortized over time. This module was developed in line with the Isometric Standard through collaboration between Isometric’s in-house Science Team and reviewers from Isometric’s independent Science Network of more than 300 scientific experts. Meet NULIFE GreenTech—a carbon removal supplier converting waste biomass into durable, storable bio-oil. Isometric is the registry for the world’s most innovative carbon removal suppliers. In this series, we’re spotlighting our partners. NULIFE uses a process called hydrothermal liquefaction, applying heat and pressure to efficiently convert waste biomass into carbon-rich bio-oil. This bio-oil is then injected into geological formations, safely and permanently removing the carbon from the atmosphere for thousands of years. NULIFE’s process can also remove contaminants like PFAS from the environment, tackling two major challenges at once. In 2024, NULIFE was selected by Frontier for a $500,000 carbon removal prepurchase on behalf of Google, H&M, Shopify, and Stripe. They're now operating their first commercial facility in Saskatoon, Canada, sourcing biomass from local food processors. The project is undergoing validation with Isometric and working toward its first credit issuance later this year. Want to learn more about NULIFE and our work together? Planetary has signed a $31 million offtake agreement with Frontier buyers—a landmark moment for Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE) and the carbon removal industry. OAE is a promising pathway for durable carbon removal, with the potential to remove billions of tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. It can also support marine ecosystems by helping to mitigate harmful ocean acidification. This offtake follows the world’s first independently verified OAE credits—issued by Isometric to Planetary in June and verified by 350Solutions—and marks another important step toward scaling carbon removal responsibly and fast. Introducing re.green—a Brazilian carbon removal supplier working to regenerate one million hectares of tropical forests through large-scale ecological restoration. Isometric is the registry for the world’s most innovative carbon removal suppliers. In this series, we’re spotlighting our partners. re.green’s approach to reforestation combines native species, biodiversity conservation, and community‑led restoration to regenerate degraded forests. By working with and training local communities, they foster long‑term forest stewardship, support ecosystem health, and create local economic opportunities. Want to learn more about re.green and our work together? Check out the links in the comments.

In June, Isometric issued the world’s first independently verified Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE) credits to Planetary—for delivery to British Airways, Shopify, and Stripe. In this new video explainer, Isometric Carbon Removal Scientist Jing He walks through the full credit issuance process—from independent validation and verification by 350Solutions to the transparent data behind every credit on the Isometric Registry. Watch now to see how these world-first OAE credits were quantified and issued: https://lnkd.in/eZNQc3T9

Scaling carbon removal responsibly and fast starts with understanding what it takes to deploy it on the ground. Isometric Carbon Removal Scientist Ryan Penney recently visited Pacific Biochar’s Humboldt Sawmill project to learn more about their operations and to walk through the Project Design and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) features in Isometric Certify. Pacific is working toward the issuance of their first carbon removal credits with Isometric. Last week, our Biochar Production and Storage Protocol was approved by The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM)—meaning those credits can now receive the Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label. Find out more about our work with Pacific Biochar and how Isometric issues high-quality, CCP-labelled credits via the links in the comments.

Buyers like Microsoft and Amazon are paving the way for carbon removal to scale and move down the cost curve—setting the stage for future compliance markets. That was the perspective shared by Isometric’s Chief Commercial Officer, Lukas May, in a recent article by The Wall Street Journal’s Yusuf Khan on how leading buyers are shaping the carbon removal market.
