⭐ McAllister Shortlisted for New Civil Engineer - Road bridge of the year ⭐ A Landmark Rehabilitation Project Blending Heritage, Innovation & Sustainability The Stratford High Street Underbridge rehabilitation is a landmark project that blends heritage preservation with modern innovation, ensuring the long-term resilience of a key transport link. The rehabilitation was a bridge structure that spans 8no lengths, all horseshoe shape, with dimensions of between 2.2m x 1.8x and 2.4m x 1.7m x 25mtrs each. As part of the major Greenway cycle route and an essential road for cyclists commuting to London, minimising disruption was critical. McAllister delivered a cost-effective, sustainable solution using Blejkan GRP, marking its first-ever UK application. The project remained on time and under budget, leveraging offsite manufacturing to reduce disruption while extending the bridge’s lifespan beyond 2140. Recognised with Gold status by Thames Water, this project sets a new benchmark for sustainable bridge rehabilitation. 

⭐ ⭐Shortlisted - Historic Bridge of the year ⭐⭐ McAllister Proud To Be Reviving Victorian Engineering: The Award-Winning Stratford Underbridge Rehabilitation The NOS14 Stratford Underbridge, a key component of Joseph Bazalgette’s 160-year-old sewer network, was at risk of structural failure, compromising both wastewater management and Stratford’s road system. Rather than replacing this historic asset, McAllister pioneered an innovative rehabilitation approach—installing Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) modules within the sewer and integrating them with the original Victorian structure. This seamless composite solution, with a design life of 120 years, ensures the preservation of its historic integrity.
