Southbound will be closed overnight from 8pm to 5am each day between 8-10 September. 🚦 Traffic will be diverted between junctions 36 and 39 through Kendal. 🔗 To find out more, visit: https://lnkd.in/gvS88-i8

  • We’re proud to support Transport Focus’ 12-month action plan to improve facilities for lorry drivers. This month, we’re focusing on parking and using driver feedback to identify where change is most needed. Through our Lorry Parking Facilities Improvement Scheme, we’ve already upgraded sites across the network. Drivers are seeing the difference: 🔹 “Fantastic site, loved the new barrier.” – Chippenham Pit Stop 🔹 “Great new barriers and CCTV, feels more secure.” – Junction 24 Ltd Truck Stop 🔹 “Brilliant, enough parking and clean toilets. Hopefully they stay like that.” – JRS Service, M62 Goole These voices help us understand what’s working—and where we need to go next. Every year, we offer three paid volunteering days to staff so they can support our commitment to social value and giving back to communities who need it the most. FareShare UK is a UK-based charity that redistributes surplus food from manufacturers, retailers and suppliers to frontline charities and communities. This includes food banks, homeless shelters, youth clubs, women’s refuges and community kitchens. Their goal is to reduce food waste and tackle hunger by making good food available to people in need. Some of our directors spent the day volunteering at FareShare's warehouse in the Midlands, here's what they had to say 👇 Andrew Stephenson, Philippa Crane, Sharon McCarthy, Steve Cooke, Scott Dale

🚛 Why lorry parking matters more than ever... We’ve helped create nearly 400 new lorry parking spaces across the country through our Lorry Parking Facilities Improvement Grant Scheme. This will help tackle a shortfall in secure truck stop spaces, as highlighted by a Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom survey in 2022. Over 4,400 lorries park overnight in unsafe locations like lay-bys and industrial estates. This isn’t just a logistics issue – it’s about driver welfare and safety. Our insights show: ➡️ Some parking layouts are challenging to navigate in larger vehicles ➡️ Limited parking spaces leave drivers anxious about finding an available stop We’ve created 10% of the total spaces needed so far – a meaningful step in the right direction. But we’re not doing this alone. Other initiatives, like the Department for Transport’s HGV Parking and Driver Welfare Match Funding Grant Scheme, are also helping to expand and improve facilities nationwide. Together, we want to make a real difference. We’re backing the Transport Focus campaign and continuing to improve conditions for freight drivers.
