We have a lot of B.I.R.D Tabs due to go out soon, and that means a lot of work to be done getting them ready! We have co-opted our meeting room as makeshift workshop for software setup, preparation and packing. Props to Ilyas Ahmed, seen below working diligently through the ranks of laptops and Scarecrow units. Despite how it might look here, we promise he's not being left to do it all single-handed!

The world of airport wildlife safety was put under an unexpected spotlight this week through a celebrity Instagram post. Actor and rapper Will Smith posted about how he was delayed on his way to a show after the plane he was meant to take struck a bird. Read more about the incident on the Scarecrow website: https://lnkd.in/dmwyFkJi

The past week has seen a few wildlife safety incidents in air travel, some quite dramatic even if, thankfully, nobody was hurt. We have summarised the key stories to help you stay informed. https://lnkd.in/gYv9R8tz

There have been a few aviation wildlife safety headlines this week, and once again we're here to summarise the stories in brief. A headline from Hyderabad shows the value of good wildlife management, while disruption at multiple airports and damage to a nearly new jet show the hazard that birds can present. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in any of these incidents. Read more on the Scarecrow website. https://lnkd.in/ey6xpXnn

Today we celebrated a real landmark work anniversary. Katie Wells, our longest-serving employee, has been at Scarecrow for 20 years! She was greeted by a decorated desk, several confetti cannons, and a shower of gifts. Here's a few words Operations Director Deb Miall wrote for Katie's card, which nicely sum up the way we all feel about her: Twenty years at Scarecrow Keeping finances clean and right From every bill to biscuit tin You’ve kept us running strong within The teabags flow, the snacks appear We know it’s you who brings the cheer Behind the scenes you do so much With thoughtful care and special touch So here’s to Katie – calm and clever A Scarecrow star now and forever

There have been a number of headlines relating to airport bird control this past week. This includes actual bird strikes causing serious disruption (but thankfully nobody hurt), new data being released, and crackdowns on bird strike risk. 📣 It's a busy news day in the world of bird strikes. We've written this up in detail on our website, but here's the news in brief: 📰 According to figures from India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the country's airports are recording three bird strikes a day, resulting in emergency landings for four planes in the past month. 📰 The moment a gull collided with a Spanish fighter jet was caught on camera. The collision shattered the jet's windscreen, but fortunately the pilot was unharmed and was able to land safely. Read more about both these stories on the News section of our website: https://lnkd.in/eth2h3cF

Today, Scarecrow played host to Siete Hamminga, CEO of our parent company Robin Radar Systems. Siete came over to meet our new leadership and the whole team for updates, discussions and planning. Virtual meetings are great, but sometimes there's nothing like an in-person discussion. Great to have you over for the day Siete! Very excited to keep working for the benefit of both Robin and Scarecrow through our ongoing partnership.

Scarecrow Group reposted this
To all my colleagues, clients, suppliers and everyone else I have met on my journey at Scarecrow over the past 24 years... Thank You!! From a 16 year old school leaver to owner and then Managing Director at 40, Scarecrow has been apart of my life near on 24/7 and it is now time to put myself first, rest, reset and then pursue new opportunities. I have been privileged to have travelled to 48 countries, trained hundreds of users and most importantly, educate people from many walks of life and industries, on humane bird control; with software also becoming a large part of the solution 18 years ago. The service Scarecrow provides, along with its position within each of its industries around the world, is a daily testament to the team I have built alongside the core foundations established in 1984 by Tony Walker. I truly look forward to watching where Scarecrow goes next, as the sky really is the limit Lastly, apologies to everyone I didn't get round to speaking to personally, before my departure (after 24 years there were quite a few) however thank you all for your kindness, business and most importantly friendship. Always be kind and remember you only live once Have a beautiful day, Lee
