The event brought together over 20 supply chain partners to showcase the wide range of jobs, apprenticeships, and training opportunities available during the construction and operation of Sizewell C. 🌟 Opening doors for the next generation! We’re proud to be hosting Ipswich MP Jack Abbott’s first Summer School at the Sizewell C offices this August. Our Joint Managing Director, Nigel Cann, shared his perspective with the attendees – drawing on his own journey of starting out as an apprentice and working his way up to where he is today. 📅 Over the next two weeks, 17 local young people will gain a unique insight into careers in politics, public service, and campaigning. The programme is Jack’s own initiative – inspired by the summer school that first gave him his start in politics. At Sizewell C, we’re committed to creating opportunities for young people. ⛏️ From smashing rocks to splitting the atom, Suffolk’s history continues to unfold. At the Sizewell C site, a sharp-eyed truck driver made an extraordinary find – later confirmed by Oxford Archaeology and Cotswold Archaeology. 👉 A Neanderthal handaxe, estimated to be between 36,000 and 59,000 years old! Finds like this are a powerful reminder of Suffolk’s rich and ancient history – and they reflect the respect and responsibility we bring to building here. 🌿 At Sizewell C, we’re proving that major infrastructure projects don’t have to come at the expense of nature. In fact, nature can thrive when projects take a long-term view and are carefully planned in collaboration with local stakeholders.   💬 Tony Juniper, Chair of Natural England, described our work as an example of how infrastructure and nature can work together — a powerful endorsement of our approach at Sizewell C to invest in our low-carbon future whilst also delivering for nature.   For more than a decade before the first spade hit the ground on site, we've been delivering landscape restoration around the construction site and nature is thriving.   Last week, we welcomed Tony, his executive team from Natural England, and other guests to see key mitigation measures integrated into the construction site, as well as our three new nature reserves — Wild Studio, Wild Aldhurst, and Wild Abbey — each created on former low-grade arable land. While some of this work has been required, much has been undertaken voluntarily as part of our nature-positive approach. We hope Sizewell C will serve as a blueprint for delivering essential infrastructure across Britain, investing in our energy future while enhancing the natural world.   Hear more from Tony 👉

🎨 Bringing creativity, connection and curiosity to our community! At the start of the week, Sizewell Creative hosted an Activity Day at the Sizewell B Visitor Centre, welcoming over 100 people for an afternoon of hands-on creativity and family fun. There were sing-along sessions, colourful construction challenges, and plenty of inspiration drawn from our very own Wild Aldhurst nature reserve. 🌿 👷♂️👷♀️ Children had the chance to explore engineering through playful road building, and DanceEast held virtual dance classes that brought stories to life through movement. At the heart of the event was a simple idea: that creativity builds confidence, sparks curiosity and brings people together. This is what Sizewell Creative is all about.
