We always say: if it’s not made of steel, it’s made using steel. Metals enable progress – and we know this well. But how can our industry adapt to meet these evolving needs responsibly? Our CEO, Rajesh Nair, joined the #ProcessAutomationPodcast to discuss automation, electrification and digital technologies, alongside industry experts Helena Malmqvist, Jernkontoret and Frederik Esterhuizen, ABB. At Tata Steel UK, we’re driving the future of low-CO₂ steelmaking – building sustainable solutions fit for generations to come. 🎧 Tune in now to learn more. Metals are the foundation of modern society – essential to everything from infrastructure to technological innovation. To put it into perspective: according to the World Steel Association, over 200 kilograms of steel are used per person each year in the production of cars, construction materials, tools, household appliances and more. With demand projected to rise, the challenge is clear: how can we meet this growing need while producing metals efficiently, reliably and responsibly? In our latest podcast episode, my colleague Frederik Esterhuizen is joined by Helena Malmqvist from Jernkontoret and Rajesh Nair from Tata Steel UK to explore how the metals industry can outrun – leaner and cleaner. It's Friday, and we are planning for September. Make sure to add this to your diary: 🔹 Steel at the heart of UK industry and on the main stage at UK Metals Expo - The Leading Event for the Entire Metals Supply Chain 2025. At this year's 'View from the Top' panel, our Director General Gareth Stace will join Kamal Rajput to share a clear vision: a competitive, resilient UK steel sector must be central to the country’s economic and strategic future. 💬 UK Steel will: ✔️ Emphasise how steel is central to joined-up Government strategies. ✔️ Explore how Government can align policy, procurement and investment to support the sector. ✔️ Stress that decarbonisation must go hand in hand with global competitiveness. ✔️ Highlight the difficulties of international trade, defences and tariffs. Steel is the foundation of UK manufacturing and we will keep making the case for a strong, future-ready industry. #UKSteel #UKMetalsExpo #SteelMatters #Manufacturing #IndustrialStrategy
