Abstract
This article explores the indispensability of employee motivation in effective organizational management. In the style of a qualitative research, the paper x-rays, exhaustively, the merits, efficacy and relevance of motivation in the success of organizational management. It also identifies and explains the factors that affect employee motivation, the benefits of employee motivation in Nigerian organizations, some theories of motivation and the significantlink between effective organizational management and employee motivation in Nigerian organizations, both the public and the private. For the fact that employee motivation is an intricate and sophisticated subject, once applied in the right way an organization is bound to achieve a long-lasting success. However, if ignored an organization will fizzle out in the game. For Nigerian managers to have an understanding of employee motivation, they must know the concept of motivation, organizational management, differences in individual needs and the variety of motivational factors and the changes in priorities of these factors overtime. The necessity of this work is situated in it provision of solutions to Nigerian employees' redundant attitude to work and its consequences.

This study investigated the impact of employee motivation on the performance of communication companies in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. The ineptness of management to understand employee motivation and develop appropriate techniques to manage it is one of the problems facing many organizations in Nigeria today. This has resulted in a great waste of human resources. Employees should be motivated to tap into the immense source of their productive energy. A motivated employee is bound to internalize the goals of the organization and will be emotionally attached to it, since he perceives that management cares. A survey research design was used in this study. It involved the collection of data to answer research questions and test hypotheses. The data collected from the questionnaire instrument were analyzed using percentages and multiple regression analysis. The research findings show that a significant and positive relationship exists between the independent variables—employee satisfaction, employee retention, employee productivity, and employee efficiency—and the dependent variable, organizational performance. This finding is consistent with the literature. We recommend that organizations should understand the meaning of motivation and find appropriate techniques for handling it. They should identify the causes of employee demotivation and develop a comprehensive program to cater to the motivational needs of employees. Human resource management is aimed at getting the best from the employees and creating an environment where job satisfaction and performance can be enhanced. Organisations in both the public and private sectors in Nigeria have goals which can only be achieved by pressing the right button and stimulating the employees to get the desired result through the process of motivation. This paper examines motivation and employees' performance in the public and private sectors in Nigeria. The authors identified factors that could guarantee job satisfaction on the part of the employees and also enhance job performance. In conclusion, the authors hold the view that if the recommendations in this paper are adopted, they will benefit both the employers and employees immensely in performance improvements in these sectors of the Nigerian economy.

Overall performance is apt to be strong and sustained when employees are well motivated. The main focus of the study is to appraise employee motivation using Nigerian banking industry as a case study. In carrying out this study, data was obtained from two major sources- primary data and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through the administration of questionnaire to the selected respondents from Nigerian Banks. Personal interaction was also used here. Secondary data were sourced from published materials, such as related journals, and the banks‟ annual reports and accounts .Respondents for this study were selected using simple random sampling technique. This study examines the relationship between Motivation and Employee productivity, using First Bank Nigeria as a case study. First Bank of Nigeria, is a Nigerian multinational bank and financial services company. All the bank are faced with the problem of developing and sustaining staff engagement through motivation to achieve high employee and organization productivity and prevent low employee morale and low overall organizational performance, the paper aimed at identifying various strategies and motivational techniques that exist in the organization, determination of the best motivational techniques that bring the best out of employees and to determine ways of improving overall organizational performance through appropriate motivational approach. This study was carried out among the employees of First bank Nigeria Plc. spanning through branches and the headquarter in Lagos, Nigeria. 50 well-structured questionnaire were administered on the three (3) banks evenly represented in branches with a total of 50 questionnaires received back and passed through statistical analyses. Research questions were raised based on the research objectives and hypotheses. Chi square statistical test was deployed to test the various hypotheses formulated in the study. The result showed that quality of supervision has positive effect on employee motivation to work better. It was also found that workers perception on what obtained in his organization will motivate him to greater productivity. This study was carried out to ascertain if the motivational tools used by the Uyo Local Government Council affect the performance of the employees. The main objective of the study was to investigate the effect of motivation on employee performance in Uyo Local Government Council, while the specific objectives were to examine the effect of promotion, recognition and pay raise on the performance of employees in Uyo Local Government Council. Expectancy theory as propounded by Vroom in 1964 was adopted as the theoretical framework of the study. Primary and secondary sources of data were adopted in the study. The primary data were obtained through the administration of 240 copies of the questionnaire though 200 were correctly filled and returned. Secondary data were obtained from journals, the internet, books and government publications. Simple percentages and chi-square statistical tools were used to analyze the data obtained. The findings revealed that Uyo Local Government promotes members of staff when due and that recognition of staff plays an important role in employee performance. Also, the study indicated that there is a relationship between pay rise and employee performance. Based on the findings, the study recommended that the Management of Uyo Local Government Council should continue in its efforts to promote its hardworking staff for effective and efficient performance; the Council should design an effective system for the regular recognition and award to employees; also, the Council should ensure that pay rise within the capacity of the council is encouraged and improved for greater performance.

Motivation plays a pivotal role in enhancing employee performance, particularly within public sector organizations. This study examines the influence of motivational incentives on employee performance in the Federal Capital Territory Administration in Nigeria. The study pursued two objectives: to investigate the extent to which intrinsic motivational incentives influence employee performance and to examine the impact of extrinsic motivational incentives on employee performance. A total sample of 310 employees of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) participated in the study, with data collected using a structured questionnaire. The analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, correlation, and linear regression techniques via Jamovi software. The findings revealed that intrinsic motivation has a significant positive effect on employee performance. Similarly, extrinsic motivation also significantly and positively influences employee performance. These results highlight that both intrinsic and extrinsic motivational incentives contribute meaningfully to employee performance. The study concludes that public sector organizations, such as the AEPB, should prioritize a balanced approach to motivational strategies, incorporating both intrinsic and extrinsic incentives to optimise employee performance. Tailored interventions that focus on fostering intrinsic motivation, such as recognising achievements and providing meaningful work, alongside extrinsic incentives like financial rewards and benefits, are recommended to sustain high levels of performance.
Theories of management are the basic background for the study of management, it is important for students and practitioners of management first to understand these theories. The objective of this paper is to bring to light the application of human relations and behavioral science approaches to motivation in selected business organizations in Kano metropolis in northern Nigeria, and lay a foundation for the understanding of these approaches to management. It also explored the relationship between motivation and employee performance in the organizations understudy. The paper made use of both primary and secondary sources of data, through the use of researcher designed questionnaires and also books, journals and magazines on management. The paper found the use of incentive and bonus schemes in contemporary organizations and therefore recommends that despite many strides made since after the discovery of human relations/behavioral approaches which lead to the emergence of other theories, that the concept is still relevant and fashionable as such managers should embrace the idea of looking at the human/behavioral side of employees rather than concentrating on the mechanical aspects of the job alone. Through the use of psychology and sociology managers could despite the complex nature of human beings understand the behavior of their employees and try to stimulate greater productivity with the use of various motivational tools.
The study investigated the Effect of Employee Motivation on Organizational Performance of selected manufacturing firms in Enugu State. The objectives of the study include among others include to examine the effect of employee motivation on organizational performance and also to determine the effect of salary as a factor that increases motivation of employee in an organization. The population of the study was 120 workers of selected manufacturing firms in Enugu State. And the sample size is 103, which was gotten with Yaro Yameni formular. The study used descriptive statistics to answer three research questions posed for the study. The Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient was used to test the three hypotheses that guided the study. The result obtained from the analysis showed that there existed Relationship between employee motivation and the organizational performance. The study revealed that extrinsic motivation given to workers in an organization has a significant influence on the workers performance. This is in line with Equity theory which emphasizes that fairness in the remuneration package tends to produce higher performance from workers. The researcher recommended that all firms should adopt extrinsic rewards in their various firms to increase productivity. On the bases of these findings, employers are continually challenged to develop pay policies and procedures that will enable them to attract, motivate, retain and satisfy their employees. For effective and efficient utilization of resources and improved job performance, employees need to be motivated. Purpose of this study was to investigate the place of motivation on employees’ performance in the Nigerian Banking Industry. The study was conducted in the area of Lagos Island, Nigeria and population consisted of 5 selected banks in that location. 80 questionnaires were distributed to the employees of selected banks, of which 67 were returned. The study used descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation to answer the first 2 research questions posed in the study.
