CMA CGM has shipped 15 motor yachts from the port of Brisbane, Australia, to the USA for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show onboard its containership CMA CGM Abu Dhabi.
The yachts ranged in length from 14 m to 23 m, with the shipment carried out in close cooperation with Aurora Yacht Logistics, DP World Australia, boat crews, lashing crews, Gibson Minto & Aiton Marine and Cargo Surveyors, and engineers from CMA CGM’s project cargo division.
Some yachts were lifted straight from water, while others were lifted from the quay. After months of preparation, the development of custom lifting and stowage plans and the fine-tuning of vessel schedules, each lift was carefully timed with ship-to-shore cranes and the narrow tidal windows.
According to CMA CGM, this was a record-breaking yacht shipment on a container ship – “an exceptional operation, as such large yacht shipments are more commonly seen on specialised yacht/charter carriers”, the company added.
Earlier this year, CMA CGM Group launched a dedicated seafarer recruitment platform: CMASHIPS.com.
