Dana Perino accidentally called Donald Trump “President Truth” on Friday, but apparently thought he deserved the moniker and called him that again ― on purpose.
The Fox News host and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) were discussing what they perceived as California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s downplaying of prayer in response to the Minneapolis church shooting.
Describing something Trump had posted on social media, Perino said, “and President Truth posted this yesterday. President Trump. President Truth also.”
“President Truth,” Johnson agreed.
“I think he might like that nickname,” Perino said.
Perino eventually addressed a crime bill Trump said he’s planning with Johnson, but her embrace of “President Truth” stopped many on social media.
“Trump is not associated or confused with truth,” one person wrote on X.
“This is literally just porn slop now with all this stroking,” another snarked.
Perino was putting the “truth” stamp on a man who’s repeated at least 10 significant lies in the last week, including what many believe is the greatest whopper of all: that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
Trump has also continued to spout small-stakes lies that are easily debunked, like when he claimed that Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) had called him “the greatest president of my lifetime.”
Here are more detractors’ truths about “President Truth.”
