President Donald Trump’s White House wants a slice of Intel’s pie in exchange for CHIPS Act grants that had already been approved by former President Joe Biden.
And conservative radio host and pundit Erick Erickson is furious about it.
“I’m sorry, but no, this is terrible. This is socialism,” Erickson fumed on his podcast on Wednesday about the U.S. government’s proposed taking of a 10% equity stake in the chip company.
“This is actual socialism happening by a Republican administration,” Erickson added.
The commentator roundly dismissed claims that the move would benefit national security and suggested it would ultimately end up expanding the role and size of government.
He also warned how it could ultimately backfire on the right:
