Specializing in UX design requires a combination of education, experience, and continuous learning. You can start by, Pursue a bachelor's or master's degree in User Experience Design. You can also Apply for internships or entry-level positions in UX design to gain hands-on experience working on real-world projects. Create a portfolio showcasing your UX design projects. It should demonstrate your problem-solving skills, user-centered design approach, and the ability to create intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces. Remember, expertise in UX design is built over time through practical experience, continuous learning, and a passion for creating positive user experiences.

User experience focuses on the how someone engages with an interface ( a digital one in this context). A simple parallel is customer experience, it's how a customer feels about a service. (a non-digital in this context) Some combine ux with ui, and consider it splitting hairs to Seperate them. Somewhat true, but an experience isn't always a digital interface. Experience also leans more into research while those who focus solely on interfaces leans more into aestectics. Depends on who you ask, what day you ask them, what they ate for breakfast and how granular you want to be 🧐.

Imagine you're a car designer. You try to make your designs "safer", "faster" and more "optimized". As the rules of classic physics are relatively predictable and calculable, you can measure, model, experiment, and pass the results to technicians very easily. But in the case of making it more "comfortable" or "easier to use", you are working with the expectations of the human mind. Many factors like time, place, or your target audience make these terms relative and changeable, as the human brain and the environment are. So you need to gather information directly from your customers. UX design is understanding human-concerning terms of the product in context, and trying to make them ideal for users, and implementable for engineers.

These designs serves two major purposes, validate with users and communicate to engineers. You can use them for sales and marketing also but this is secondary use case. Unfortunately some make it primary and never validate. That makes kittens cry, VCs twitch and startups fail. Validate aggressively and marketing simplifies. Not vice versa.

Making a pull request or answering a question helps you grow as well as the others - If possible, find a full-time job. Problem-solving and soft-skill improvement happen way better in a team that is actually on the market

Front-end is the wild west of programming. Follow and fall in love with the community. It's a nessasary evil. Unlike the backend, it's not a controlled environment. You're at mercy of the open source community, competing devices, browsers and operating systems and large companies with popular frameworks. All of which effects the front-end. Community is your North Star. Accept everything changes all the time for questionable reasons. Specialize by following and contributing to the Front-end community.

Just like with real construction work, you need to master basics and then find your favourite tool&material kit. Also you can learn these on your own, but it's more efficient and fun to learn from more experienced front-end builders.

That's an interesting question. Here's my story: Was an UI/UX Designer at first, but kept learning front-end development too. One of the reason I learnt it was to make sure the design I made can be implemented the exact way precisely on the front-end. The other reason I learnt it was because to have an understanding as a designer, what front-end developers go through when working on it. That way you have an idea of both sides of the coin and you are a master of two skills in two different spectrums. Hence I am now an UI/UX Designer and a front-end developer. So if you ask me which one? Why not both? Go for it!

If you like to code visual things that humans can click and tap. Front-end. If you want to move pixels around and get emotional approval from humans. UX Design.

There is overlap between UX Design and Front End Development. Good developers understand design and likewise Designers know about development. The way the visual and functional aspects combine lead to the best experiences. I would argue both roles are very visual and suited to problem solvers. Personally I found development work satisfying in creating solutions to user problems, in collaboration with designers. Design does not end when the mockup is passed on to the development team. However UX design allows me to dig deeper into discovery work and gives me scope to help the business to make better design decisions through modelling, mapping, mocking and prototyping.

Experiment with both roles to determine what floats your boat! My 2 cents: If you are focused on working as a full-time professional, pick one of the two, and specialize in it. If you want to be a freelancer, consider the middle ground: becoming a UX developer adept at both design and coding.

The more you practise , the more you learn. Learning is one thing but practising it on daily basis can help you grow more. How to practise the skills ? - Develop a habit of implementing every topic you have learned - Create as much project but it should be diversified in terms of functionality. - Try to collaborate with other developer , discuss and code - Contribute in Open Source Project , participate in contests like Hacktober Fest , GSoC etc Be always eager and ready to learn something new as technology keeps updating.
