How do you differentiate between cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning objectives?

Use verbs like analyze and create, aiming at intellectual skills for mental. Affective objectives deal with attitudes and values, using verbs like value and internalize. Psychomotor objectives involve physical skills, using verbs like perform and demonstrate. Remember, objectives should be SMART - specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. This framework, grounded in Bloom's work, ensures clear, effective, and goal-aligned learning objectives. 📚🎯

I think there needs to be a lead in/introduction ….. Bloom's Taxonomy provides a framework for educators to create learning objectives that focus on all aspects of the learner. The framework consists of three domains: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. The levels within each domain is hierarchical. i.e., higher levels on the taxonomy are dependent on having achieved the skills on the lower levels. Each domain focuses on a unique and distinct aspect of learning and the learner. When combined these domains create a comprehensive framework for learning that educators can use to address and deepen the all aspects for student learning, such as mental, emotional, physical, and creative capabilities.

Later it says to "use action verbs that are observable and measurable.". How can verbs like "appreciate" and "respect" be measurable?

Ensure learning objectives in the affective domain are measurable and actionable. Use observable behaviors instead of abstract concepts like "appreciate" or "respect." For example, aim for objectives like "Learners will actively engage stakeholders" or "Learners will demonstrate empathy. Observable behaviors facilitate assessment and reinforcement in real-world contexts.

'By the end of this program, learners will appreciate the importance of stakeholder engagement and communication in program implementation' is a weak objective in seeking to improve workplace-based performance. Otherwise why design a learning/training programme? Behaviour is observeable, so why not seek to observe new behaviours that move the organisation towards its objectives ?

One day I was teaching students how to apply a skim coat (a thin finish coat of drywall compound) on some walls. I explained the objective: To apply a final coat of watered-down drywall compound to hide all imperfections without creating any further imperfections requiring more than light sanding. I then demonstrated the skill. I broke it down: How to apply the compound, spread it ,ensure that excess compound is not left on the wall etc. I heard a student swear under her breath as she practiced. I called out to her from the next room: "U R wiping your trowel too flat! Open it up!" She did as I said and had success. "How did U know? U weren't even watching!" she exclaimed, shocked. "I could hear it." Psychomotor skills involve many senses.

as far as I Know performing SWOT analysis ... is a mental skill and not a psychomotor skill. an example for psychomotor skill will be : assembling electronic components to do something or performing a blood pressure measurement.
