When you are designing an experiment or an analysis from scratch, think about who you are presenting this data. Data is compiled to tell a story so I would always build it in a way that I can start macro and drill down to the micro. For example, in an excel analytics, there would always be a summary tab, detail tabs maybe group by certain criterias, data dump tab with timestamps of data or any kind of backup attached to it. When I do this, I can tell my story to whoever need to see the data high level, and if there are questions, we can always drill down as needed.

However most key stakeholders will go with the 'opportunist' hence it is good to leave some "buffer" as usually budget reviews go for multiple rounds. i.e. In the Hospitality Industry key exhibition often shift dates, hence impacting positively or negatively your demand levels, therefore it is good to keep a track record of your performance so you can properly budget next year's expectations. Be mindful of the following: new competitors, currency exchange fluctuation, inflation, new events, new products, expiring commercial contract, geo-political tensions etc...
