🛡️ Bridging the Cybersecurity Gap in Your Digital Team? My Strategy: 1️⃣ Start with Awareness – Run mandatory cyber hygiene sessions (phishing, password safety, etc.). 🧠🔐 2️⃣ Integrate into Workflows – Teach secure practices within daily digital tools & campaigns. ⚙️📧 3️⃣ Gamify Learning – Use simulations & quizzes to make cybersecurity training engaging. 🎮📚 4️⃣ Collaborate with IT – Create a joint task force with cybersecurity experts for ongoing support. 🤝💻 5️⃣ Upskill Continuously – Enroll team members in short, role-specific cyber courses. 🚀📖 6️⃣ Policy + Practice – Establish clear protocols & test them regularly. 🧾🔁 💡 Cybersecurity isn’t IT’s job alone—it’s everyone’s responsibility in digital strategy.

To bridge the cybersecurity knowledge gap in your digital strategy, start with regular training. According to a 2024 report by Cybersecurity Ventures, cybercrime damages are projected to reach $10.5 trillion annually by 2025. Incorporating security training into your team's ongoing development can reduce human error risks by up to 95%. Additionally, fostering partnerships with cybersecurity experts and investing in tools like security awareness programs can help strengthen your strategy effectively.

I’d arrange targeted training, bring in experts if needed, and share clear best practices to build the team’s cybersecurity awareness and skills.

Besides general awareness training, I would take two steps: - Collaborate with IT and or L&D to create learning sessions tailored to marketing teams. - If not part of the onboarding process, review martech and digital marketing stack with IT to identify exposures.

    1. Hire a part-time/freelance cybersecurity expert for a few months. They will check if our app, website, and data are safe and fix any problems. 2. Train our team with 1-2 basic sessions on how to stay safe online using strong passwords, spotting scams, and protecting user data. 3. Pick one team member to be the “security captain.” He/she doesn't need to be an expert, just someone who reminds everyone else to follow simple security steps during work time to time. 4. For Users, plan to get a security certificate to show them that we take their data seriously. This helps build trust, especially if we grow big. 5. Tell users we care about their safety, mention it on our website and in emails.

You can collect relevant technical insights directly from technical team, then rewrite and simplify the content to align with your marketing goals. This ensures the messaging remains accurate while being understandable to your audience. Additionally, consider organizing internal knowledge sharing sessions or workshops to gradually build your team’s cybersecurity awareness and confidence.

If your cybersecurity team isn’t fully up to speed on digital strategy, don’t panic, it’s more common than you’d think. The best move? Start bridging the gap with collaboration. Bring in your digital folks to sit with the security team, share goals, and walk through the bigger picture together. Then, invest in some training or certifications to help them level up. And honestly, just create a space where learning is encouraged no egos, just growth. That’s how real alignment happens.

One thing I found helpful was getting help needed when I brought to attention some struggles I had with my work. I acknowledged the problem with our digital campaigns and needed training on some skills . I spoke with my boss who found some paid courses on Coursera that where helpful. Making improvements paths possible and accessible to team is one way to build on knowledge for organisational growth

Sure, here’s a points-only version: Assess current cybersecurity knowledge and gaps. Provide targeted cybersecurity training and certifications. Hire or consult cybersecurity experts. Integrate cybersecurity into all digital strategy initiatives. Foster a security-first organizational culture. Adopt frameworks like NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls. Promote cross-functional collaboration between teams. Ensure continuous learning and threat awareness updates.
