  • 🚨 New High-Altitude Weather Station Alert!     The Avalanche Program has installed the Three Pigs South Summit Weather Station at 6,620 feet, making it the highest elevation weather station in the entire Chugach Mountain Range 🏔️.   📍 Located above the highest-risk avalanche zone on the Richardson Highway (MP 37–40, North side of Thompson Pass), this station will provide critical weather data right near avalanche starting zones.   ✅ With this data, we can better time avalanche mitigation efforts and reduce guesswork in forecasting. 🌨️ It also supports NOAA Anchorage in producing more accurate weather forecasts - vital for both avalanche safety and snow plowing operations.   📡 Weather data will soon be available to the public on the RWIS page: https://lnkd.in/eS_cCKAp.   🙏 Huge thanks to Valdez local Leigh Coates for expert helicopter piloting, and to Michael Lilly of GW Scientific (Fairbanks) for technical partnership. We appreciate their dedication to #KeepAlaskaMoving
