U.S. natural gas production is breaking records, yet prices remain soft. Henry Hub futures dipped to $2.70/MMBtu last week, the lowest settlement price since November. On the demand side, cooler-than-normal weather has softened domestic consumption in the electric power sector, with August tracking the lowest levels since 2021. LNG feedgas flows remain strong, and pipeline exports to Mexico set a new daily record. However, lower injections into underground storage have contributed to a narrowing surplus to the five-year average.
