In southern Lebanon, young people are leading recovery efforts. Through Anera’s program, powered by UNICEF Lebanon, they gain practical skills in data collection, surveying, and Microsoft applications. Over 40 days, they conducted field surveys in camps, focusing on the needs of people with disabilities to identify urgent gaps in food, medicine, and basic services. Their work today contributes to a more holistic recovery effort, providing them with valuable experience and compensation for their hard work.

This week, additional aid was dropped into Gaza. However, these airdrops are a humiliating form of aid and have proven to be chaotic and dangerous for those on the ground, with incidences of people being injured or killed, such as 3-year-old Sami Ayyad, who was killed in October. The people of Gaza deserve a dignified, medically supervised response to this man-made mass starvation. We are running out of time. Please continue to advocate for unhindered aid access through principled UN‑led mechanisms and a lasting ceasefire. #DontForgetGaza #StopStarvingGaza #CeasefireNow

As part of the vocational training programs implemented by Anera in North Lebanon and Akkar, students worked together to produce 13,000 clothing kits for families affected by the war. Of these, 8,000 kits were delivered to families living in Bekaa. This initiative, part of the recovery project supported by UNICEF Lebanon, embodies the spirit of social solidarity, as youth from the north extend a helping hand to communities across the country in a time of need.

Join us on Friday, October 3, in downtown DC for Anera’s Annual Dinner. Our theme “From the Shell, a Thousand Seeds” honors the enduring power of life in the face of the harshest realities. Each seed carries a story, a dream, a future. Grounded in Anera’s values of compassion, renewal and collective purpose, we will be gathering to pay tribute to what has been lost and to renew our commitment to what we can still grow, together. With support from Anera, these children living in Jenin can partake in an end-of-summer camp! This program spans over a total of four weeks and includes psychosocial, recreation and remedial education opportunities for children impacted by military violence. Thank you to our partners at Middle East Children's Institute (MECI) for running this program and creating a place where children can experience joy! Paliperidone is a modern antipsychotic used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It helps in reducing hallucinations, mood disturbances, and disorganized thinking with an efficacy that health professionals consider a game changer. But in Lebanon, most cannot afford this critical medication. Thanks to a donation from Direct Relief, Anera can support these patients in need. The donation includes paliperidone in various dosages, along with other psychiatric medications, surgical supplies, and treatments for chronic conditions like diabetes. In total, the medicines will benefit more than 3,000 patients across the country. PQMD

Massacres at food distribution sites in Gaza are occurring near-daily. As of July 13, the UN confirmed 875 Palestinians were killed while seeking food, 201 on aid routes and the rest at distribution points. Thousands more have been injured. Meanwhile, Israeli forces have forcibly displaced nearly two million exhausted Palestinians with the most recent mass displacement order issued on July 20, confining Palestinians to less than 12% of Gaza.
