The wait is over — NextGen Acela is officially in service. Yesterday’s Acela-bration preview events marked the start of a new chapter in American train travel, and today, customers across the Northeast Corridor can ride for the first time. As our President, Roger Harris, shared, “These trains are beautiful, they are fast, they are state of the art, and they are American made.” With 27% more seating capacity, a modern, redesigned onboard environment, and expanded service, this is Amtrak 2.0 — and we can’t wait to welcome our customers aboard.

Full Steam Ahead: Mardi Gras Service Launch Sells Out in Both Directions On August 18, we celebrated the return of passenger rail between New Orleans and Mobile, with stops across coastal Mississippi. The video showcases Mobile, AL—our newest Gulf Coast destination—where the station sits between the cruise terminal and convention center, just steps from downtown attractions like the GulfQuest Museum. The inaugural day was a complete sellout in both directions, with morning and afternoon departures filled to capacity. This overwhelming response shows the excitement and demand for passenger rail along the Gulf Coast. The Mardi Gras Service runs twice daily, with fares starting at $15 each way on the Amtrak app, Amtrak.com, or by calling 800-USA-RAIL. #MardiGrasService #GulfCoast #PassengerRail

We've awarded design-build contracts and begun preconstruction activities for three transformative rail yard modernization projects in Boston, NYC, and DC! Combined with similar projects already under construction in Philadelphia and Seattle, another planned for Rensselaer/Albany, we're delivering a new era for passenger rail in the U.S. These projects will support the rollout of our new Airo trains (coming to the Northeast in 2027), improve service reliability, and enhance maintenance efficiency. Investments like these are critical to meeting the record demand for Amtrak across America and delivering a world-class passenger experience. 📍 Boston - Southampton Yard (SPS New England, Inc.-Railroad Construction Company, Inc. Joint Venture) 📍 NYC – Sunnyside Yard (Peter Scalamandre & Sons Construction-Citnalta Construction Corp JV) 📍 DC – Ivy City Yard (Clark Construction Group-Herzog JV) Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e9QuH3xH
