About us

Asian Health Services, founded in 1974, provides health, social, and advocacy services for all regardless of income, insurance status, language, or culture.  Our approach to well-being focuses on "whole patient health", which is why besides primary care we go beyond the walls of the clinic to offer community care, including prenatal wellness classes for moms-to-be, IT classes for seniors, and monthly food distribution.

  • 👏 Thank you to the over 70 attendees who joined the CA AANHPI Health Equity Coalition* at the powerful virtual legislative briefing “Say It So They Hear It: Justice Starts With Language.” The briefing covered CA Assembly Bill 1242 authored by Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen and co-sponsored by OCAPICA, Asian Resources, Inc., AHS, CA3, Regional Pacific Island Alliance Taskforce Pacific Island Alliance Taskforce. AB 1242 establishes a Director within CalHHS to lead and coordinate statewide efforts to ensure Californians with limited English proficiency can access key services, secures human oversight when AI is used for translation or interpretation, and improves how agencies determine which languages to cover by updating the Dymally-Alatorre Bilingual Services Act. It's about ensuring for the over 6 million Californians who are limited English proficient (LEP), deaf, or hard of hearing, that they can understand their rights, navigate public systems, and get the care and services they need. California can lead the nation in building this statewide infrastructure that is community-informed, data-driven, and rooted in justice. Stay tuned as this critical legislation advances. • We’re excited to share that Asian Health Services’ partnership with the Delta Dental Ins. was spotlighted in an article on Yahoo! Finance. Delta Dental of California and Affiliates’ Access to Care Grants Program helped open AHS’ new Dental, Wellness & Teaching Health Center in San Leandro, allowing us to expand access to care and offer integrated dental and behavioral health services under one roof —an innovative concept first introduced by AHS to Northern California. This partnership is already making a difference. For patients like Jong Sup Shon, a small business owner, he brushed off dental appointments as he found it difficult to communicate with dental and medical staff. At Asian Health Services, he was able to find a provider he could communicate with, finally getting the culturally competent care he needs. Thanks to this collaboration, our community’s wait times are shrinking, and we’re training the next generation of dental professionals through our new residency program. Together, we’re building healthier, stronger futures — one smile at a time. 📰 Read the full article https://lnkd.in/gFxrwXbU

  • This #NHCW Health Conditions Focus Day, we’re spotlighting Asian Health Services’ Happy Kitchen project and its “food as medicine” approach—using simple, healthy twists on familiar recipes to healing and preventing health conditions commonly afflicting Asian Americans like hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. With simple, healthy updates to traditional recipes, Happy Kitchen proves that eating well doesn’t mean giving up flavor. Earlier this year, we partnered with Made With Lau—a family-run cooking channel sharing Cantonese recipes—to illustrate how simple it is to create a healthy, culturally rooted meal right in your own kitchen. • In honor of National Health Center Week, today we’re celebrating the patients who helped shape Asian Health Services into what it is today. We’re especially proud to highlight two former patients who return to AHS now to give back: AHS board member Michelle To and AHS physician Macy Lieu, DNP. In this video, they reflect on their journeys from patients to leaders in community health. Thank you to our patients for trusting us and being partners in building a healthier community. #NHCW2025 #PatientAppreciation
