#AspirusHealth is proud to welcome Melanee Tiura, DHA, FACHE, as Chief Administrative Officer for Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and Clinics. Melanee brings more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience and a deep passion for rural health care. Her career has spanned clinical, academic, and executive roles, including CEO, CFO, and Hospital Administrator positions, most recently leading a Critical Access Hospital in Valdez, Alaska. Now, she returns to the Copper Country to serve the community that shaped her journey. We’re excited to welcome Melanee home and look forward to the leadership and vision she brings to Aspirus Keweenaw. Welcome, Melanee!

Natalie brings over 30 years of nursing experience, including 20 years in executive leadership, with a strong background in hospital operations, project management, and business development. In her new role, Natalie will set strategic direction and oversee operations across Aspirus’ hospitals and clinics in Michigan, bringing a transformational leadership style and a passion for relationship-building to the Upper Peninsula.   We’re excited for the vision, experience, and energy Natalie brings as we continue to grow and provide high-quality, patient-centered care throughout the region. We’re continuing to advance sustainability across the Aspirus Health system by introducing autonomous, battery-powered lawn mowers at eight of our locations. Most recently, Aspirus Langlade Hospital & Clinics added these electric mowers to their campuses in Antigo. By replacing gas-powered equipment, we’re reducing emissions, cutting down on noise pollution, and supporting healthier landscapes. These mowers operate day or night, rain or shine, and allow our teams to focus more time on critical building systems and preventive maintenance. This is another meaningful step in our system-wide effort to create a healthier environment for the communities we serve.

We were proud to join community members, local leaders, and our construction partners to break ground on the new Aspirus Chippewa Falls Hospital & Clinic. This milestone represents a significant investment in the health and well-being of Chippewa Falls and the surrounding region. The 35,000-square-foot facility will expand access to high-quality emergency, inpatient, and primary care services. It will also centralize imaging, laboratory, and pharmacy services to improve efficiency and enhance the overall patient experience. Projects like this reflect our commitment to strengthening rural health care, fostering innovation in care delivery, and supporting local economic growth. We look forward to welcoming patients to the new facility when it opens in September 2026.

As part of the $227 million Aspirus Wausau Hospital expansion, we are adding 48 new intermediate care beds to address capacity constraints and reduce delays for patients with complex needs. This critical upgrade supports our commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient care and improving the overall patient experience. Today marks a major milestone for Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital as we officially begin construction on a $31.1 million expansion project. This investment will bring a 28,000 sq. ft. addition, move all services under one roof, and upgrade patient rooms and support services to meet growing demand.
