Since 2001, the Roadless Rule has protected 58 million acres of national forests, safeguarding wildlife habitat, clean water, and opportunities for backcountry hunting and fishing. Now, the USDA wants to rescind the Rule, opening 45 million acres to new roadbuilding. The National Forest System already has 370,000 miles of roads... That’s TWICE the U.S. highway system. More roads mean more wildfire risk, fragmented habitat, and degraded headwaters. Join BHA in defending these wild places. Submit your comment by Sept. 19 and ask Congress to support the Roadless Area Conservation Act: https://lnkd.in/gwzjbZDj

The voice for our wild public lands, waters and wildlife.
About us
Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is the sportsmen's voice for our wild public land, water and wildlife. We work to pass on North America's wild public habitat and backcountry traditions. No one can better speak for this wild country than our members, who walk the ridges in pursuit of big bulls and who wade the stream in search of elusive trout.

Citizen science meets conservation—Adirondack style. 🐟 BHA members joined the DEC Bureau of Fisheries and partners for the Trek for Trout, posting signs at 152 Adirondack brook trout ponds in just one day. Each sign shares critical conservation messaging and a QR code survey that turns every angler into a citizen scientist. What would’ve taken DEC staff a year was made possible in a single day thanks to 93 volunteers braving rain, snow, hail, and bugs to protect brook trout and the waters they call home.

Stepping from one piece of public land to another without touching private land is illegal? That doesn’t make sense... The corner crossing case has been petitioned to the U.S. Supreme Court — and the outcome could impact millions of acres of public land access. Join us Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. MT for a Virtual Pint Night with lead counsel Ryan Semerad to unpack the case, the Supreme Court timeline, and how you can take action. Drop your questions in the comments, and we’ll do our best to answer them live! Register here → https://lnkd.in/g_ChQjCv

(Application closed) #HIRING We’re looking for a part-time Digital Media Specialist to step in while our Digital Media Lead steps out on parental leave. This is a fully remote contract gig from September through December 2025, and you’ll be holding down the digital fort. From running national social channels to supporting grassroots campaigns, Meta ads to memes, you'll help keep our mission in front of the people who care most. You should speak fluent social, know how to stretch a reel for impact, and spot a typo from 100 yards. This is a temp role—but the right fit could stick around into 2026. Backcountry Hunters & Anglers reposted this
The 4th Annual Backcountry Hunters & Anglers Public Land and Waters Yard Sale is coming back again, beginning in late October This wild idea we came up with to raise money to support the cause of being the voice for the wild public lands and waters of North America has exceeded our expectations, due to the generosity of our corporate partners and our members. If you're an outdoor company out there wondering what you're going to do with your excess inventory, samples, 2nds, end of runs, returns and more that are outside of your normal sales channels and taking up warehouse space... DONATE IT TO BHA! We take you donated items and sell them for 50% off during the two week sale, all items donated are tax deductible as well Last year we had over 27,000 unique store sessions during the event, so there's great brand exposure and a solid promotional plan to showcase the brands involved. You know you're interested. Let me know and let's chat on how we can make this happen. As we saw in the budget reconciliation/public land sale fight, BHA's mission is critical now more than ever as we continue to stand up for access and opportunity on North America's public lands and waters Thanks for considering!

🚨 Now hiring in D.C. 🚨 We're adding a Policy & Government Relations Manager (or Senior Manager) to our crew—someone ready to fight for our wild public lands, waters, and wildlife in the rooms where decisions are made. This is a full-time role based in Washington, D.C., working closely with members of Congress, the Administration, and our grassroots army of public land owners. If you're a hunter or angler with policy chops, deep knowledge of the legislative process, and a fire in your gut for conservation, we want to hear from you. You'll be at the tip of the spear—shaping national policy, building partnerships, and making sure our hunting and fishing heritage has a strong voice in D.C. First review of applicants begins August 4. Apply:

With over 8 million acres of public land on the line, BHA is once again mobilizing hunters, anglers, and public land owners to help fund the final legal battle in what may be the most pivotal public lands case of this generation. This week, Iron Bar Holdings LLC and their high-dollar legal team petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a landmark decision by the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals that upholds the legality of corner crossing. Help us pay for the defendant’s legal fees in this fight to ensure the American people get their day in court and public lands remain accessible for all. All funds raised beyond the legal defense needs for this court case will be allocated to address similar access and opportunity issues at the state level. https://lnkd.in/gMqvm2wy
