For over a decade, the close-knit Nova Scotia community of Big Tancook Island has welcomed Backroads guests with open arms, homemade lobster lunches and a one-of-a-kind “kissing the lobster” ceremony. As the island prepares for change with a new ferry arriving in 2026, Backroads is proud to support its future through a donation to the local Recreation Centre via our Give Back Field Project. These funds will help preserve the island’s identity by supporting youth programs, community events and facility upgrades - all led by locals. We’re proud to celebrate LGBTQIA+ Pride Month across our global Backroads community! 🌈 From Pride-themed trivia nights and vibrant bingo fundraisers to letter-writing campaigns and wellness events, our teams found ways to celebrate and give back. Our global offices across the US, Canada and Europe were honored to support incredible local organizations like the SF LGBT Center (www.sfcenter.org) and Canmore Pride (www.canmorepride.ca), while spotlighting queer talent to lead Pride-themed yoga and drag performers to light up events. A huge thank you to everyone who showed up and celebrated with us. Happy Pride from all of us at Backroads!

At Backroads, we believe in the power of active travel to connect people and protect the planet. Our new Utrecht team recently joined the Cycling 4 Climate ride, an inspiring event that follows the "future" coastline of the Netherlands as a reminder of what could be lost to sea level rise. This was such a meaningful way to explore our new community, connect as a team and support our Give Back mission to protect the places where we live, work and travel. Huge thanks to our Netherlands crew and Cycling4Climate for making it happen!

We’re proud to share that Backroads recently participated in Pedal to Empower, a global campaign from World Bicycle Relief that helps women and girls overcome barriers through the power of bicycles. This year, we took our support to the next level as the official sponsor of the Pedal to Empower Strava Challenge. Our hubs across the US, Canada, France, Netherlands and the Czech Republic also organized group rides to raise internal awareness around our work with World Bicycle Relief! Thank you to everyone who rode, donated and spread the word. You’ve truly helped put purpose into motion 💙🚴

They are pathways to education, to health care and to economic opportunities. We’re proud to mark a decade of partnership with World Bicycle Relief, an inspiring organization empowering communities across the world through the gift of mobility. I love sharing things that have helped me grow and keep moving forward—and Backroads is one of those things. I wrote about my recent hiking adventure through Peru with Backroads—an unforgettable trip that reminded me how powerful it is to step out of routine and into movement. I hope you’ll take a moment to read it. https://lnkd.in/gvGH2XjK
