As the United States faces escalating energy demands amid advancing resource-intensive technology and aging infrastructure, nuclear power has rematerialized as a central pillar of national and state-level energy strategies. 

Last Thursday, Aug. 21, the Colorado General Assembly reconvened for its 2025 Extraordinary Session, mostly focused on addressing the $750‒$800 million state budget shortfall created by the federal government’s passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) (also known as H.R. 1).

On Aug. 22, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau released an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) on Personal Financial Data Rights while its October 2024 final rule is the subject of ongoing litigation. The ANPRM seeks feedback from stakeholders on the definition of a representative, prohibition on fees, adequacy of security and privacy protection, and compliance dates.

The Trump administration is moving quickly to implement the president’s Aug. 7 executive order (EO) to expand retirement savers’ access to alternative investments in private markets through defined contribution plans, such as 401(k)s. This EO represents an historic policy shift that could fundamentally reshape how Americans save for retirement. 

A new and increasingly sophisticated form of counterfeiting is challenging traditional brand protection strategies. Counterfeiters are now avoiding the use of well-known house marks and instead applying “private label” marks to infringing products.
