  • Right-side passings now make up nearly 1 in 5 school bus stop-arm violations, up from just 3% in previous years, according to the latest NASDPTS survey. These are some of the most dangerous incidents because they often happen while children are getting on or off the bus, when they’re most exposed and least protected. This spike underscores the urgent need for stronger driver education, smarter enforcement, and advanced technology. BusPatrol is the only provider with AI-powered detection for right-side passings, helping to safeguard students from every angle. • Last week, we shared the results of the 2025 NASDPTS survey. Illegal school bus passings are down nationwide. This is a meaningful step forward. But with 39 million violations projected this year, there is still work to do. We’re proud to have played a role in this progress and even prouder to stand alongside the school districts, municipalities, and partners who make this work possible. As the new school year begins, we’re more committed than ever to delivering on our mission — and building safer roads for every student, every day. 📊 Read our key takeaways from the report: https://lnkd.in/eEXxF6Ea

  • Each year, over 39 million drivers illegally pass stopped school buses, a crisis putting millions of children at risk. To tackle the issue, school districts are turning to stop-arm enforcement programs that use technology to detect drivers who break the law. But do these programs actually help curb illegal school bus passings? Our latest post looks at the impact of automated enforcement, both nationally and at the local level. While violations tend to drop after these programs launch, real, lasting change depends on more than just technology. It takes education, community engagement, and data-driven action to make roads safer for everyone. 📖 Read the full story @ https://lnkd.in/ekSiJ8va

  • We had a great time at the NSTA 2025 Annual Meeting & Convention in Boston this week. It was a valuable opportunity to connect with bus operators and leaders across the pupil transportation industry, share ideas, and explore the future of student transportation. We’re proud to be trusted by operators nationwide to help modernize their fleets and improve safety for the students they serve. Thank you to National School Transportation Association for hosting such a well-rounded and engaging event. We’re looking forward to what’s ahead.

  • Progress is happening, but our mission isn’t over. For the first time since the NASDPTS (National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services) began tracking, illegal school bus passings are down. In a single day, school bus drivers reported more than 69,000 violations — an estimated 40.6 million over the course of the school year. That’s a drop from 45.2 million the year before and a sign that change is possible. This momentum reflects the growing adoption of stronger laws and automated stop-arm enforcement programs that hold drivers accountable and protect students. We’re proud to play a part in this momentum, but 40 million is still far too many. We won’t stop until every child is safe getting to and from school. • With back-to-school season approaching, Pittsburgh Public Schools is reflecting on the impact of last year’s school bus safety program, and the data shows real progress. Stop-arm cameras captured thousands of illegal passings during the 2024–2025 school year. Encouragingly, the vast majority of drivers — 95 percent — were first-time offenders, showing that once drivers receive a ticket and understand the law, they’re less likely to break it again. That shift in behavior is helping make roads safer for Pittsburgh students. District leaders are also using the data to identify high-risk bus stops and make targeted changes that better protect children. • Our team had a great time at STN West in Reno, NV, where BusPatrol was proud to be a Gold Sponsor. Over three days, we connected with school transportation leaders and had some powerful conversations about how to make the ride to and from school safer for every student. We also hosted a session led by our Chief Growth Officer, Steve Randazzo, and co-hosted by our partners at Pittsburgh Public Schools, who shared first-hand insight into how they brought automated enforcement to their district and the difference it has made within their community. Together, they walked through real violation footage, explained how our programs work, and outlined what it takes to launch a successful initiative that delivers lasting impact. Thank you to everyone who stopped by. We’re proud to be part of this community and excited to keep the momentum going!

  • In just five months, hundreds of drivers in Carson City were caught illegally passing stopped school buses, putting children in danger as they got on and off the bus. Together with Carson City School District, we launched a pilot program to better understand the threat — and the results were eye-opening. The data captured by our AI-powered stop-arm cameras helped drive the passage of AB 527, a new Nevada law that enables districts statewide to hold reckless drivers accountable. Safer roads start with accountability. We’re proud to support local leaders and school districts in protecting students where it matters most. • 🚨 More than five illegal school bus passings per bus, per day. That’s what our pilot program with Clark County School District uncovered last semester — tens of thousands of violations in just a few months. “The numbers from the Clark County pilot program are deeply concerning and should serve as a wake-up call,” said Nevada Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro. “I was proud to work with BusPatrol to support this commonsense legislation to help protect our most vulnerable — our children — as they travel to and from school.” We’re proud to partner with Clark County and districts nationwide to pilot technology that makes the trip to and from school safer for every student. • From the main stage to the golf course, we’re meeting leaders where they are, because student safety starts with meaningful connection.   This week, our journey took us to:   🚌 Michigan: At the Michigan Association for Pupil Transportation Conference, we were proud to be a premium sponsor. We led conversations about how AI-powered enforcement and Michigan’s new law can help districts improve safety without straining budgets.   🗺️ North Carolina, Texas, and Washington: At each state’s Pupil Transportation Conference, we connected with local transportation professionals to learn more about their needs and share how our technology can support safer communities.   ⛳️ Colorado: At the Colorado Municipal League Conference, we met with municipal leaders to discuss how school bus safety fits into broader public safety goals. It was our first time at the event, and we even got to join attendees on the golf course for more great conversations.   We’re proud to stand alongside those making student safety a priority. More stops and more stories to come!
