Happening today in Sydney:  We’re proud to highlight that Dr. Boro Dropulić, CEO of Vector BioMed and Executive Director of Caring Cross, is delivering this year’s Dr. Geoff Symonds Oration at the #ISCTANZ2025 Regional Meeting. Both advocating for a more promising tomorrow, Dr. Symonds was, too, a strong advocate for equitable access to lifesaving medical interventions. Boro’s talk, “Enabling Access of CAR-T and Other Cellular Gene Therapies” will explore practical strategies to overcome barriers in bringing advanced therapies to patients worldwide, honoring Dr. Symonds’ legacy as a pioneer in cell and gene therapy - and inspiring fellow therapeutic explorers. In addition to Dr. Symonds’ scientific legacy centered around HIV therapy, he was deeply committed to supporting and mentoring the next generation of scientists and clinicians, and through his thoughtful and practical mentorship, helped boost the early careers of many young people. Global health inequities remain one of the greatest challenges facing our industry. But… how is the pharmaceutical sector addressing them? That is the question a recent Pharma's Almanac roundtable posed to biopharma leaders across the field. Dr. Boro Dropulić, represented Vector BioMed in this discussion, joining other industry voices to share his perspective on what it will take to make real progress. As Boro stated, “Equitable access means building bridges and facilitating real solutions for patients in need. It requires calculated reach. And it certainly requires service providers to work directly with global governments, ministries of health, and charitable organizations — so that the integrated ecosystems built can continue to provide therapeutics to underserved populations.” It is not enough to innovate.
