Each year, tens of thousands of lives are lost to drug overdose across the country. August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) — a global day of remembrance for those we've lost, and a time to honor the grief carried by their families and friends, free from stigma 💜 In recognition of IOAD, our staff wore purple to stand in solidarity with communities around the world. This day reminds us that we are not alone in our pain — and that together, we have the power to shape a future free from overdose. We also held on-the-spot free opioid overdose reversal trainings in our clinic parking lot. Suffolk County held an event earlier this week attended by Executive Ed Romaine, Legislators, community leaders, and moms who have lost children to overdoses, to shine a light on IOAD and National Recovery Month. We show up. We speak out. We take action.  Because no one should carry this grief alone. Every story shared, every voice raised, and every step taken brings us closer to change. Together, we can reduce stigma, prevent drug use before it starts, expand access to treatment, and save lives.
