The fun at Chess Wizards Summer Camps is unmatched!  A huge thank you goes out to all of the students that joined us this summer, and to all of our instructors who helped fill camp with learning, fun, and a lifetime of memories.

Last week our amazing team of managers attended a Leadership Conference in Chicago, IL. The 3-day event was an awesome opportunity to learn, grow, connect, and make sure everyone is ready to successfully lead in the upcoming school year.   We are so grateful to have such a dedicated team and can’t wait for the school year ahead! #ChessWizards

♟ What an amazing day at the GARFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT Chess Tournament in NJ! ♟ We were thrilled to see around 50 young players competing across three divisions (K–1, 2–3, and 4–5 grades), showing off their focus, strategy, and sportsmanship. A big congratulations to the top 5 winners in each division who took home trophies, and to the top 3 schools recognized for their outstanding teams! Special thanks to Superintendent Richard Tomko and School Board President Allan Focarino for supporting this incredible event — your presence made the day even more special. Our employee of the month is Nick Darrell from Boston, MA!   Nick was chosen as our Wizard of the month because of his stellar attendance record, great working relationship with the Milton School District, his punctuality, enthusiasm, and dedication to Chess Wizards. Nick Darell moved away from MA and worked as a DC chess Wizard for a year, then he returned to MA and continued his rise as a Star Wizard! 🎬 Checkmate in Hollywood: American Celebrities Who Truly Love Chess When you think of Hollywood icons and entertainment legends, images of red carpets, glamorous events, and blockbuster movie sets probably come to mind. But for some of America’s most famous stars, there’s another passion behind the scenes — chess. This timeless strategy game has long captured the attention of thinkers and creatives alike, and several U.S. celebrities have proven themselves to be devoted fans. Let’s take a look at some American stars who genuinely love the game of kings — and have the receipts to prove it. 1. Woody Harrelson You may know Woody Harrelson from  True Detective or The Hunger Games, but did you know he’s also a chess fanatic? Humphrey Bogart Even before celebrities and chess became a pop culture combo, classic Hollywood legend Humphrey Bogart was already ahead of the game. Bogart was a tournament-level player who often traveled with a pocket chess set and played between takes. He once famously challenged Grandmaster Samuel Reshevsky, proving his passion ran deep. 5. Stanley Kubrick Before he became one of cinema’s greatest directors, Stanley Kubrick was making money playing chess in New York City parks. His meticulous style of filmmaking echoed his methodical approach to the game. Kubrick’s obsession with strategy, structure, and precision all started on the 64 squares. 6. Howard Stern The radio king of shock talk, Howard Stern, is also a major chess lover.
