It’s World Biofuel Day! Thanks to our City's Fleet Management Department, we're proud to lead by example: 🚛 Our diesel vehicles run on clean biofuels that reduce costs and CO2 emissions. 📊 Last fiscal year, we used 491,910 gallons of R99 renewable diesel and 139,613 gallons of B100 biodiesel. Let’s keep driving toward a greener, more sustainable tomorrow! Visit DurhamNC.gov/1375 to learn more about City vehicles & to see photos of our Fleet Management crew.

Big improvements for a better City Council meeting experience — in person and at home! Over the summer, we upgraded the AV system in Council Chambers and improved audio in the City Hall lobby where many attend meetings in overflow seating. What’s new? 🎤 Clearer sound in the room and lobby 🎥 Better video for livestreams 👩🦽 A podium that adjusts for all speakers 🖥️ New monitors so everyone can see presentations Thank you to our Communications Department for leading the Council Chambers AV project, and to Technology Solutions, General Services, and Communications for teaming up on the lobby improvements. We’re committed to making City meetings easier to see, hear, and take part in — no matter how you choose to join. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e8qfS7i6

A water facility leader AND a blood drive organizer! When American Red Cross needs blood, North Durham Water Reclamation Superintendent Charlie Cocker helps organize donation events convenient for city employees. Since July 2023, Charlie has recruited employees who have given more than 300 units of blood donations at city sites. We’re inspired by Charlie’s dedication to saving lives.⭐

We love to see local interns who want to divert waste from landfills! They visited the Waste Disposal and Recycling Center to learn how we compost organic wastes. Assistant Solid Waste Manager Muriel Williman loves to talk about transforming organic waste into healthy soil that can grow good food and plants. Save your food scraps and compost at home or bring them to a drop off location. DurhamNC.gov/935 for tips & container sites. 🥕 🍎 🍪
