About us

The City of Redwood City is a San Francisco Bay Area community located in the heart of Silicon Valley, the technology-rich region extending from the San Francisco shoreline to the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Redwood City is the third largest city in the County of San Mateo, with 85,992 residents. The city enjoys an average of 255 sunny days a year, which it boasts via the City slogan: “Climate Best by Government Test”. Incorporated in 1867, Redwood City is home to the San Mateo County History Museum (located in the county’s old courthouse) and the only active deep water port within the south bay of San Francisco. The City's vibrant downtown, quickly becoming known as the entertainment hub of the San Francisco Peninsula, offers residents, visitors, and businesses a unique retail, entertainment, and restaurant experience. • Last night, the Redwood City Woman's Club filled with energy as neighbors, business leaders, and community members came together for an engaging panel on the future of our downtown 🏙️. This event kicked off the City’s Downtown Speaker Series, part of the Greater Downtown Area Plan (GDAP) process, a long-term, community-driven plan that will guide how our downtown and surrounding neighborhoods grow and thrive over the next 20 to 25 years. From housing and small businesses to public spaces, transportation, and climate resilience, GDAP is about ensuring Redwood City remains vibrant, resilient, and welcoming for decades to come 🌳. A heartfelt thank you to the Redwood City Woman’s Club for hosting, and to everyone who joined us to share ideas and vision for what comes next 🙏. Couldn’t make it? More opportunities are just around the corner. Join us next week for Speaker Panel 2: Downtown Resilience in a Changing Climate and a walking tour on Thursday, September 4, plus other events in the series 📅 click the link below to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gc5P_EnV #RedwoodCity #GDAP #DowntownRWC #Community

  • This past weekend, Redwood City came together to clean up the Stambaugh-Heller and Downtown neighborhoods! Dozens of neighbors, small business owners, and volunteers gathered at The Yard Coffee for the fourth installment of our cleanup series focused on beautification, community, and supporting our local businesses. Volunteers split into teams, tackled targeted areas using custom cleanup maps, and got familiar with the MyRWC app to help report larger issues directly to the City. After an hour of hard work, everyone reconvened over breakfast and good company. Thanks to all who showed up and to The Yard for hosting us. Let’s keep showing up for our city - juntos/together. Want to help out or host a future cleanup? Contact juntosredwoodcity@gmail.com and download the MyRWC app at www.RedwoodCity.org/MyRWC today!

  • Yesterday, local leaders and community members gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Kaiser Permanente’s expanded Hearing Aid Center in downtown Redwood City. The new space features state-of-the-art technology, additional exam rooms, and more opportunities for patient education. Nearly 15 percent of American adults live with some form of hearing loss. This center makes care more accessible, helps people stay connected to the world around them, and ensures more of our neighbors can access the support they need. Thank you to everyone who joined us to mark the moment and support hearing health in our community.

  • Last week at Con Azucar Cafe, residents sat down with members of our Police Department for genuine conversations over coffee and pan dulce. Coffee with the Cops is about building real relationships with no agenda, just neighbors getting to know each other. Thank you to everyone who took time to share, listen, and help strengthen our community.   Want to join us next time? Follow Redwood City Police Department to stay in the loop: Redwood City Police Department.
