As we recognize World Hepatitis Day, we're reminded that barriers to care can be complex, but with the right approach, they’re not insurmountable. Fifteen years after a hepatitis C diagnosis and a failed round of treatment, an unhoused patient called one of our pharmacists, Richard McCormack, DPh, out of the blue and out of options. Together, they identified a treatment option that would work within the patient’s situation, accounting for his need to move locations frequently and the importance of a simple, effective regimen to support adherence. Three months later, lab results confirmed the patient was virus free. This is what equitable, patient-centered care looks like.
