Ann Arbor Comprehensive Treatment Center and Western Michigan Comprehensive Treatment Center recently welcomed State Rep. Morgan Foreman, State Rep. Carrie Rheingans, and Senator Mark Huizenga for tours and discussions focused on the lifesaving impact of opioid treatment programs (OTPs) across Michigan. Regional Director Camilla Wisbauer, along with Clinic Directors Kenneth Hammond (Ann Arbor) and Amanda Harris (Western Michigan), highlighted the barriers patients face in accessing care and the critical role OTPs play in supporting long-term recovery.
About us
Comprehensive Treatment Centers (CTCs) offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adults age 18 and older who are struggling with an addiction to opioids such as heroin or prescription painkillers. MAT offers many of the same benefits as other outpatient programs, allowing adults to receive the addiction treatment they need while still attending school or work and living at home. However, unlike other outpatient treatment programs, MAT involves a prescription for medications such as methadone, Suboxone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone. These medications help adults manage the uncomfortable symptoms of withdrawal that can occur when detoxing from opioids. MAT medications are proven safe and effective when taken under the direction of a healthcare professional. Along with prescription medication, CTCs offer appropriate counseling, giving adults the tools they need to address any underlying mental health conditions. This can be in the form of individual, family, and group therapies. Group therapy sessions help bring adults out of isolation and cover topics such as relapse prevention, coping skills, emotion regulation, and healthy communication. The use of medication to ease withdrawal symptoms has been shown to help adults stay focused during their therapy sessions and makes them less likely to begin using opioids again. By combining medication with appropriate counseling from mental health professionals, CTCs can help adults achieve happier, healthier lives free from opioid use.

In recovery, triggers aren’t always obvious, and they can come in many forms. Some are external, like stress, social settings, or certain environments. Others are internal, such as anxiety, loneliness, or unresolved trauma. These emotional, environmental, and social factors all play a role in shaping a person’s path to recovery. Understanding common triggers is an important step toward compassionate, individualized support. Follow the link to learn more: https://ow.ly/10my50WqzZm

Richmond CTC kicked off summer with a cookout to remember on June 19! Patients, families, and staff came together for a day filled with food, games, face painting, prize giveaways—and even the chance to throw a pie at a staff member, including our Clinic Director. Our peer recovery coach, Ryan, manned the grill with hamburgers and hot dogs, while counselor Chrissie showed off her artistic skills with face painting. Despite heat, rain, and high winds, the smiles never stopped. Thanks to everyone who made this day so special!

On July 9, Southern Indiana Comprehensive Treatment Center hosted a Resource Fair with 15 local businesses joining us to share services and support. To encourage engagement, patients visited each table and collected signatures on a card to enter a drawing for a food basket. It was a great way to connect our community, build awareness, and ensure patients had access to valuable local resources. Thank you to all who participated and made the day a success.
