Generative AI has officially entered the courtroom, but many legal professionals are still learning how to integrate it properly. By early 2025, at least 9 lawsuits included AI-generated citations that simply didn’t exist, and we’re seeing more and more headlines in legal publications about AI malpractice in legal filings. The problem isn't that attorneys are using AI tools like ChatGPT, but that some are trusting them too much. In our latest blog post, Darrow’s Senior Litigation Specialist, Jordan Grimmer-Tufik, explores: -Why AI hallucinations are happening -How to treat AI like your most enthusiastic junior associate -5 practical tips to avoid AI-fueled embarrassment (including a free downloadable AI policy template for your firm) Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/dxvbCQ6q

Meet Darrow’s Legal Intelligence Team Lead, Zoe Bornshtein, who is celebrating 4 years with Darrow. 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 I’m originally from Los Angeles and now live in Haifa, Israel with my husband and two young kids. After passing the California Bar in 2015, I began practicing plaintiff-side employment law in Los Angeles and worked on cases involving workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination, as well as wage and hour related matters. I moved to Israel in January 2019 and went to work as the Associate General Counsel at the University of the People. Then, in 2021, I came to work at Darrow, where I was hired in a business development role, and eventually became the team lead of the legal intelligence labor team. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰? Funnily enough, my dream was always to work at a tech company, but I thought the only way in was to be a general counsel. I even took a course in law school called “Representing the Tech Startup” but I was told that without a hard science background or an engineering degree, I had no shot of breaking into the tech world. So when the opportunity to work at Darrow arose, I was thrilled and jumped at the opportunity. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰? There are so many, but I think what stands out most is becoming the lead of the labor team. We’ve uncovered so many legal risks and it’s incredibly rewarding to know we’re helping bring justice to people who’ve been taken advantage of. I’m also particularly proud of two mass arbitration cases we’re currently working on. Both have thousands of claimants, are moving along really well, and in both, the defense attorneys have already come to the table looking to settle. 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐨, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐚𝐰, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐞? Don't let anyone tell you that you can’t break into tech if it’s what you really want. Be patient and go after what you are most passionate about.

Darrow AI reposted this
Unpopular opinion: Agent costs are hiring spend, not IT spend. Startups, compared to law firms, are spending about 25% on salaries. Law firms are spending 50%. Why is that? Lawyers value time as the cost of hiring for it, not how much it cost to build it. While technology can accelerate technical environment, the rest of the industries are evolving slower: Law firms are learning to organize, evaluate and communicate opportunity. In agentic environments - everything changes much faster. The recent changes in Cursors pricing signals something dramatic: The token is worth its value in human time. For legal, there's value in solving for: - Trust - Alignment - Communication Darrow AI solving for those, in the natural environment for research. We're building something special for law firms, and I'm personally demoing it. Want in? DM me.

$21.77B in class action settlements and we’re only halfway through 2025. Here are 2 key insights from Duane Morris LLP Mid-Year Class Action Settlement Report: Record-Breaking Pace: The first half of 2025 is on pace with the past 3 years of class action settlements, with 37 corporate settlements of $1B or more in 3.5 years. On May 12, the FTC’s new Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees took effect, targeting the live-event ticketing and short-term rental industries, where hidden add-on charges, known as junk fees, are common. With the federal Junk Fee Prevention Act currently stalled in Congress, enforcement is left up to the states and other governing bodies, like the FTC. What does this mean for legal accountability and for the future of junk fee litigation? Darrow’s VP of Litigation Partnerships, Etia Rottman Frand, explains in her latest Law360 article: https://lnkd.in/d9JXmu-b
