We’re thrilled to publicly announce this year’s DOWL Charter Award winners! These outstanding individuals exemplify what it means to lead with inspiration, innovation, integrity, and inclusion across our diverse practice areas. Each recipient has gone above and beyond, living out our core values every day—and we can’t wait to share their stories with you. We’re kicking things off with a brand-new award introduced this year: the Early-Career Professional Award. This award recognizes an early-career professional who works hard, delivers high-quality results, and embodies DOWL’s charter of Inspiration, Innovation, Integrity, and Inclusion. Kind, ambitious, and an incredibly hard worker—these are just a few of the ways people describe Megan Zollars, PE, an aviation project manager and is one of two recipients of this year’s Early-Career Professional Award. Megan, your accomplishments and your ability to establish yourself as a leader so early in your career are truly commendable. Your commitment to continuous learning and your dedication to mentoring junior staff are inspiring. You leave a lasting impression on everyone you work with. Courtney today we celebrate YOU—the heartbeat of innovation, leadership, and generosity. Being named one of Portland Business Journal's 40 Under 40 is not just recognition; it's a standing ovation for the impact you've made. You epitomize everything this award stands for: technical brilliance, energy, and a heart that lifts others. It's been inspiring to watch your journey—from leading complex transportation projects at DOWL to earning prestigious honors like the national Edmund Friedman Young Engineer Award. As former President of the Seattle ASCE Younger Member Forum and an active advocate for STEM Like a Girl, you're not just building bridges—you're building future generations. You lead with warmth and vision. You're articulate, passionate, and genuinely fun to work with. Your team sees you. They admire how you bring people together, whether through creative team building or off-hours events that strengthen bonds and build trust. You mentor with intention and speak with clarity, making every room brighter the moment you walk in. This isn’t just an award. It’s a love letter from your colleagues, your peers, and everyone who is lucky enough to cross paths with you. Congratulations, Courtney! #40Under40 #LeadershipGoals #WomenInSTEM #PeopleWhoMakeItHappen #ASCE

Meet The Emilys: Emily Anderson, Emily Corley, Emily Creely, and Emily Peterson. Together, they make up 13% of our Environmental group (no, we’re not making that up!). While “Emily” has consistently been a top 10 name since the '90s, we didn’t expect it to become an environmental phenomenon at DOWL. Coincidence? Destiny? We’re not sure—but we’re glad they’re all here making a difference. So now we’re curious... is this a DOWL thing, or is the environmental field full of Emilys? If your name is Emily and you’re in environmental sciences, say hi in the comments—we’d love to meet our counterparts! #EmilyDay #EnvironmentalServices #PeopleWhoMakeItHappen #DOWLies

Behind every plan set, every milestone, every success at DOWL—there’s a #DOWLie with purpose. We believe the best work starts with people who show up fully, driven by what inspires them both inside and outside the workplace. That’s why we’re excited to share a glimpse into the lives of four #DOWLies in our latest video—people who bring meaning to everything they do. This week, meet: • Darren Murata, PE – Senior Project Manager • Rachel Steer – Chief Administrative Officer • Kristen Hansen – Environmental Practice Lead • Ashan Fernando, EIT – Assistant Project Manager www.dowl.com #PeopleWhoMakeItHappen #WorkHardPlayHard #DOWLLife

In 2024, DOWL’s Portland Office Philanthropy Committee made a donation to Depave, a local nonprofit with a powerful mission: turning over-paved spaces into vibrant green places across Portland. That spirit of giving didn’t stop at dollars, it showed up in sweat equity. On a rainy Saturday last month, #DOWLies rolled up their sleeves and joined a community work party hosted by depave at Vestal Elementary School in Northeast Portland. Alongside fellow volunteers, about 2,500 square feet of old asphalt was removed to make room for a new learning garden designed by landscape architect Learning Landscapes Design LLC. Shoutout to our hardworking DOWL volunteers: Ryan Russell, Courtney Davis, P.E., Robert Léger, and Colleen Wolfe—your dedication helps grow more than just gardens. We love the opportunity to help create a more sustainable future for the communities that we live and work in. #GivingBack #DOWLLife #SustainableFuture #PeopleWhoMakeItHappen

A couple weeks ago our Reno office held a Young Professional Forum off-site lunch & learn at the DOWL-designed Tahoe Reno Industrial (TRI) Center Process Water System! We kicked things off at TRI General Improvement District’s (GID) main office with a deep dive into the project, followed by a site tour through the TRI reservoir, switching vaults, upper pump station, blend tank, and temporary reverse osmosis facility. Of course, it was the hottest day of the week! This $110M infrastructure powerhouse features: • 25+ miles of transmission mains • 17 miles of distribution lines • 3 tanks • 4 pump stations delivering up to 10,000 gallons per minute • 75-acre lined reservoir It was a great learning opportunity for both TRI GID and DOWL staff. #PeopleWhoMakeItHappen #YoungProfessionals #WaterInfrastructure #DOWLProject

This Fourth of July, DOWL celebrates more than fireworks and festivities—we reflect on the enduring ideals of freedom, resilience, and progress that define our nation. As we design and build infrastructure that connects communities across the US, we are reminded of the power of collaboration, ingenuity, and the freedoms that make innovation possible. Today, we pause to honor the courage of those who paved the way and recommitment to shaping a future that’s safe, sustainable, and strong. Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Independence Day! 🎇 #IndependenceDay #FourthOfJuly #EngineeringWithPurpose
