I’ve learned to *appreciate* the moments when things fall apart—at work and at home. When it becomes impossible to ignore that the way we’ve been doing things is *not* working anymore. Don’t get me wrong…in the moment, it feels uncomfortable. And sometimes horrible. But I’ve been through it often enough to know that these moments are *always* turning points. Invitations by the universe, openings, to create a reality that works better. 🪐 👉🏽 To mix things up, here’s a very personal recent example: I was solo parenting for 8 days last week. Somewhere in there, things fell apart. My kids started sleeping in my bed *every* night—because it felt like the only way they’d actually sleep. Which meant I was going to bed at 8pm alongside them. After the race of the workday came: Zero time to myself. Zero recharge. Zero me. ☠️ I cracked. The way we were doing things wasn’t working. And *that* was the turning point. Realizing I couldn’t keep going like this... So I started experimenting. I came up with a system where our kids can “earn” a night in bed with either mom or dad after spending 5 nights on their own. The verdict is still out—but we’re doing things *differently*. AND I’m two nights into sleeping without the kids. 🥳🪩💃🏻 #BADABING #BADABOOM A small win, but one that feels huge. 🌀 More than anything: it’s about turning cracks into opportunities. And the same principle applies at work. Whether it’s refining a process, reshaping team dynamics, or changing our north star entirely—we only reach our most aligned states *after* something cracks. When we stop fearing the breakage...and start celebrating it as a signal. When we see falling apart for what it really is: an invitation to evolve. Here’s to riding the waves of misalignment—toward a future that *actually* fits… and finding joy and growth in the ripples along the way. 🌊✨

The Shiny Things Filter ✨ (how to turn idea-overload into calm focus) Ideas are intoxicating. They come fast, they feel brilliant, and they tempt us to drop everything to chase them… But the reality? Businesses don’t die because of a lack of ideas. ☠️ They die because of a lack of focus. After running a 7-figure community business for 10+ years, here’s what’s worked for us (learned the hard way): 👉🏽 We built what we call the Shiny Things Filter✨in our project management tool (we use Asana, but it could live anywhere—even a basic spreadsheet). It’s a super simple approach to make sure ideas don’t run us—and aligned focus is maximized. 🚀 HOW IT WORKS: 1️⃣ Every idea gets captured. Big or small, we throw it on the board. This clears mental clutter and keeps shiny things from hijacking our day. 2️⃣ We rate each idea. ✔️ Impact (how much it could actually move the needle) ✔️ Investment (time, money, energy—both initial + ongoing) 3️⃣ We tag by focus. Growth, retention, or calmness. This way, if we say growth is the focus but 80% of our ideas land in “calmness,” we know something’s off. 4️⃣ We timebox. Near-term actionable vs. parked. Every quarter, we deep-dive for big priorities, every month we do a quick scan to tweak. 👉🏽 The effect? Instead of chasing every shiny thing, we: ↳ Execute on what matters most ↳ Keep a “parking lot” for good ideas (so they’re not lost) ↳ Hold ourselves accountable to what we said mattered this season 🤌🏽 Some extras that make this stick: ➖ Since we’re always adding ideas, we also ask: What will we subtract? (This reflection is built into quarterly recaps from team members.) 😎 We have a “Working Smarter” Slack channel where we share hacks and ways to work more effectively. Because it’s not just *what* we work on—it’s *how* we work. 🗣️ Our focus on impact + calmness is baked into our company values—and into the language we use internally. Because of that, it naturally shows up in nearly every meeting, whether 1x1 or company-wide. Is it perfect? Nope. But this system is one reason we’re still standing a decade later, when many flashier businesses are not. ✨ Fewer things, done better. That’s the game.
