August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month — a great time to highlight the importance of pediatric eye care as families prepare for the new school year! We’re proud to recognize Ivonne Rodriguez, COMT, CO, orthoptist at Duke Eye Center, for receiving the Duke Health Strength, Hope, and Caring Award! Ivonne acted quickly when she saw a child run into a busy traffic area near our entrance. She sprinted after him and stopped him just before reaching Erwin Rd—preventing a potentially tragic accident. Her quick thinking and compassion reflect the very best of Duke Health.
