This past Saturday, our Executive Director, Jeremy L. Kaplan, joined NY1’s Weekends on 1 with Rocco Vertuccio to share his perspective on Governor Hochul’s Master Plan for Aging, a roadmap of 126 proposals focused on helping older New Yorkers age with dignity and support. With New York’s 60+ population projected to reach 5.3 million by 2030, and older adults already contributing over $13 billion annually to the state’s economy, strengthening community-based services and the aging services workforce has never been more urgent. About us
Since 1977 in the midtown Times Square/Clinton communities of New York City, Encore has provided seniors with a range of caring and quality services to help them live independent and dignified lives. For this reason, Encore has earned the reputation as “Broadway’s Longest Running Act of Loving Care.” The mission of Encore Community Services is to provide care and service to the elderly of the Clinton/Times Square/Midtown communities, and to any elderly person who comes to us; to assist those who are vulnerable and frail, poor and homeless, homebound and lonely, frequently desperate, most often ignored; to help them with their daily needs that they might live as independently as possible, with dignity and decency, in a non-institutional manner, in a safe and caring environment. We believe we are all part of the human family and have an obligation to love one another. By nurturing, respecting and enabling, Encore hopes to improve the quality of an older person’s life, in an approach that emanates from the core of Encore’s commitment: we believe that what we do comes from the heart, and the heart is the center of all.

Thank you to Oye Group and Citymeals on Wheels for creating a day of magic for Encore's older adult members! From sharing a song with a homebound older adult to dancing with our members at our Aging Through Arts Center, we couldn't have asked for a better day!
Citymeals' Healing Room Tour with Oye Group rolled into Manhattan, delivering meals and serenades to older New Yorkers like Bernie. He sang along to this beautiful bolero played by Pedro, an emotional moment for them both. Gracias to Encore Community Services for partnering on this special day of food and connection.

Encore Community Services, along with many other vital nonprofit organizations, is facing a financial crisis due to delayed payments from the city. These organizations provide essential services—supporting older New Yorkers, feeding the hungry, and uplifting communities—yet they are owed millions in back payments. This isn't just a budgeting issue; it's a matter of survival for nonprofits that keep our city running. When payments are delayed, staff salaries, programs, and services are put at risk. The recent New York Times article sheds light on this growing problem. It's time for city leaders to prioritize timely payments and ensure nonprofits can continue their critical work without financial uncertainty. If you work in the nonprofit sector or support these organizations, let's raise awareness and advocate for change. https://lnkd.in/eu_aV9N3 #NonprofitsMatter #EncoreCommunityServices #NYC #FundingCrisis #SupportNonprofit #healthyaging #EncoreForLife LiveOn NY Human Services Council of New York Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York Citymeals on Wheels Erik Bottcher

On Friday at Encore's Lifelong Learning Center, we had the privilege of experiencing an incredible African cultural arts showcase, presented by Rhythm ‘N Soul Collective—a talented group of students from Brigham Young University dedicated to celebrating the African diaspora through music and dance. The performance featured a powerful gospel choir alongside dynamic dances from Africa, bringing history and tradition to life through movement and sound. It was a wonderful reminder of the power of art to connect communities, foster understanding, and celebrate diversity. Check out these snapshots from the showcase—such an inspiring evening of culture and creativity! #RhythmNSoulCollective #AfricanDiaspora #ArtsAndCulture #CulturalCelebration #CommunityThroughArt #EncoreForLife #HealthyAging
