A next-generation cloud backup platform

About us

Eon is a next-generation cloud backup platform that introduces the first backup autopilot for cloud infrastructure. Our technology empowers organizations with cloud backup posture management (CBPM) and transforms cloud backups into a live data lake for on-demand analytics. Backed by Sequoia Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Greenoaks and BOND, among other prominent investors, Eon is led by the team that founded CloudEndure (Cloud Disaster Recovery and Migration startup, acquired by AWS), and built two native AWS services: AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery, and AWS Application Migration Service, supporting the world's largest enterprises.

🚀 New from Eon: Cost Explorer API & Dashboard for Cloud Backups If cloud backup costs have you guessing, we’ve got you covered. Now you can see all your backup spend across Amazon Web Services (AWS) Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud in one place. Two new features give your teams the visibility they’ve been missing:  🔍 Cost Explorer API: Funnel cloud backup cost data into your BI tools. Filter by tag, resource, account, and more to investigate anomalies or generate reports. 📊 Cost Dashboard: A visual summary of backup spend across accounts and services, with breakdowns of storage, protection, and data transfer. 💡 With Eon, you can: - Get a unified, cross-cloud view of backup costs - Spot spikes or anomalies before they surprise you - Drill into the accounts, resource types, or clouds driving spend - Share chargeback/showback reports without manual work Finally, your cloud backup costs make sense. • Most teams have backups. But ask if they trust them? Crickets. In our State of Cloud Backup survey, only 21% of respondents told us they’re confident in their current setup’s cost-efficiency. Which means 4 out of 5 teams are paying for backups they’re not even sure they can count on. Even worse: ⚠️ 18% have lost cloud data ⚠️ 22% aren’t even sure if they’ve experienced data loss ⚠️ 64% of those losses are tied to human error ⚠️ Nearly 1 in 4 are linked to ransomware Backups are supposed to be your safety net. Instead, they’re a source of anxiety. Here’s the truth: Until teams fix their posture, visibility, automation, policy enforcement, they’ll keep hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. "You don't always remember everything that was said, but you do remember how you felt when they were saying it." This captures my recent conversation with Gonen Stein, co-founder and President of Eon.io. The energy and clarity with which he articulated their vision left me, a jaded analyst, a little bit excited about what they're building. What struck me was the creation story - how Eon emerged after observing real customers' pain points during their time at AWS. After selling their previous company CloudEndure to Amazon Web Services (AWS), Gonen explained that he and his team had front-row seats watching enterprises struggle with cloud infrastructure resilience: Companies over-backing up everything because they couldn't identify what truly needed protection Manual tagging systems that couldn't keep pace with dynamic cloud environments Expensive "black box" backup solutions that locked data away when it could be providing value Eon's approach is refreshingly practical: automatically discover and classify cloud resources, apply intelligent backup policies without human intervention, and transform backups from "useless insurance policies" into accessible data lakes you can actually query. The market opportunity is significant - and they've they raised $200M+ from quality investors like Sequoia and Lightspeed. They've built something truly cloud-native from the ground up to address the data protection and resilience challenges that keep IT leaders up at night. The team has significant expertise in cloud storage (their chief architect brings 800+ patents according to our discussion), strong go-to-market knowledge, and clear understanding of enterprise needs, Eon seems positioned to challenge how organizations approach cloud resilience. I'll be watching their journey with great interest. The future looks bright for these guys. #DataProtection #CloudResilience
