H-1B Disruption May Fast-Track India’s GCC Boom According to a new report, India’s Global Capability Centres could hit $150 billion in revenue by 2029, well ahead of earlier projections. Why? Because the cost of staying in the US just went up. And many India hubs are stepping up, doing more product engineering, digital innovation, and end-to-end delivery. With India's GCCs already contributing $60-65 billion in exports, the shift could reshape the global tech map faster than expected, notes Madhavi Arora of Emkay. Could H-1B fee hike be the shock India’s GCCs needed? A $100K fee on H-1B applications. Rising onsite costs. Multinationals are recalculating how much it makes sense to depend on US-based talent vs investing in India-based GCCs. Kamal Karanth says many companies have already appointed GCC heads, and while higher visa costs might slow on-site hiring, offshoring is only set to accelerate. Roop Kaistha believes that the challenge will prompt firms to ramp up investment to India hubs and explore nearshore alternatives. With all these in mind, GCC expansion is becoming a clear strategy. India’s GCCs are on track for their biggest decade yet. A survey at ET SURGE 2025 found that 1 in 3 GCC leaders expect to grow their workforce by 25% or more by 2030. A fifth forecast headcount could rise by over 50%. For GCCs, this isn’t just about the costs anymore. India’s GCC ecosystem has moved well beyond the cost-arbitrage proposition, said Ganesh Natarajan. "Our teams are not only executing routine tasks or supporting back-end operations, but are innovating," added Vybhava Srinivasan. However, can India build the talent pipelines and ecosystems to match this surge? Read the full story here 👇 https://lnkd.in/gGJUg_bR

As Washington tightens, India’s GCCs look to expand. A $100K annual fee on H-1B visas. A proposed 25% outsourcing tax. Together, these moves signal one thing: the rules of global talent are changing. For India’s Global Capability Centers, it’s less a challenge and more a turning point. Divesh Singla calls it a strategic reset that compels companies to build in India as their primary innovation hub. Dipu Gopinath cautioned that exemptions under the HIRE Act could erode India’s cost advantage. And Srinivas Sampath points to AI adoption as the next layer of disruption. With India’s GCC market projected to touch $100 billion by 2030, this moment could accelerate the shift. The real question: Can India convert the opportunity?
