"What we have started is not just by being the back office, but being the actual development centre from India. That gives us a lot of factors which made us believe India can deliver," says Ashutosh Sharma of Checkmarx. At present, the firm makes the best use of artificial intelligence to automate and enhance application security testing throughout the software development lifecycle. India has become the launchpad for these product-led efforts, with local teams building core innovations to support their global customer base. Adoption of flexi or contractual staffing in GCCs climbed from 18% in 2024 to 22% in 2025, and is projected to hit 25% by 2026, according to a report by Careernet. GCCs are adopting contractual workers for cost optimization, business agility, and access to specialized skills, said Divesh Singla while Rency Mathew noted that engaging contract specialists is allowing GCCs to create agile workforce ecosystems that scale with demand while enabling core teams to stay focused on strategy, customer needs, and innovation. BFSI is the top adopter of this trend, followed by healthcare. Local teams at Merative India are already enabling new capabilities for products such as Merge, a radiology imaging platform, and Micromedex, a clinical decision-support system which is majorly used by hospitals and poison control centres in the US. “India is very important for Merative globally,” Dipu Gopinath, Country Head, Merative India, told ETGCCWorld. With the country accounting for about 30 per cent of the company’s global workforce, one ought to agree. So, what’s in store for the GCC going into the next five years? AI could become GCCs’ biggest security risk. India's global capability centres already host some of the world’s most critical data and digital systems, thus strengthening security is no longer optional. A survey at ET SURGE 2025 found that 35% of leaders see a near future need to procure cybersecurity solutions. Kailash Maisekar attributes this to three converging factors: regulatory changes, unregulated models and geopolitical tensions. Shivi Mithal, giving a simple example, points to AI making phishing attack emails even more difficult to detect, and emphasises on the need for the right tools to protect the organisation. Deepak Malkani has his priorities straight with AI-powered detection, resilient IT operations, and stronger employee awareness. The question that arises is simple: can India’s GCCs get security right before the threats outpace their defences? Read the full story. 👇 https://lnkd.in/ghYdSVCB

AI’s trillion-dollar bill is here. Bain & Company warns that scaling AI to meet 2030 demand will require $2 trillion in revenue and the world is already staring at an $800 billion shortfall. Big cos are pouring billions, but even they can’t cover the gap alone. Governments are pushing sovereign AI, but fragmented policies may drive costs up, not down. Quantum computing could change the equation but it’s at least a decade away from being ready. Is there a solution in store? Read the full story. 👇 https://lnkd.in/gtFSUkhC

Hyderabad just landed HCA Healthcare’s first global capability centre. “The availability of highly skilled talent, the strong educational ecosystem, and a culture of innovation made Hyderabad a natural choice for us,” said Emily Duncan, SVP, Global Capability Network, HCA Healthcare. The GCC currently plans to expand its headcount from 1100 to 3000 by the end of 2026, and invest $75 million this year alone. Atul Kapoor, Hyderabad Centre Head for HCA, highlighted to ETGCCWorld that the centre will go beyond being a back-office support unit to be an innovation hub for global functions. India was not an afterthought, says Ashish Nayyar of OakNorth. Before it even secured a banking license in the UK, OakNorth set up its India centre in 2015. Today, that India-based GCC is central to its AI engine for lending, risk modeling, and climate analytics across the UK & US. India now hosts two-thirds of the company's workforce, including many senior leaders. As GCCs evolve, stories like OakNorth’s show the shift isn’t just about cost arbitrage, it’s about innovation, integrated decisioning, and truly global AI engineering from India. H-1B Disruption May Fast-Track India’s GCC Boom According to a new report, India’s Global Capability Centres could hit $150 billion in revenue by 2029, well ahead of earlier projections. Why? Because the cost of staying in the US just went up. And many India hubs are stepping up, doing more product engineering, digital innovation, and end-to-end delivery. With India's GCCs already contributing $60-65 billion in exports, the shift could reshape the global tech map faster than expected, notes Madhavi Arora of Emkay. Could H-1B fee hike be the shock India’s GCCs needed? A $100K fee on H-1B applications. Rising onsite costs. Multinationals are recalculating how much it makes sense to depend on US-based talent vs investing in India-based GCCs. Kamal Karanth says many companies have already appointed GCC heads, and while higher visa costs might slow on-site hiring, offshoring is only set to accelerate. Roop Kaistha believes that the challenge will prompt firms to ramp up investment to India hubs and explore nearshore alternatives. With all these in mind, GCC expansion is becoming a clear strategy.
