Sunday Funday Cartoons! 🌞 This week’s cartoon is a gentle reminder that even when the tides are strong and the waters uncertain, we have the courage to keep surfing forward. Resilience is our board, and hope is the wave.🍍 Artwork by Guillermo Frausto.

Hunger Doesn't Have To Happen
About us
Food Lifeline brings people in Western Washington together to uphold everyone’s right to nourishing, culturally relevant food – today and forever. Every year, nearly 40% of our country's food ends up in landfills while millions of people go hungry. Food Lifeline rescues and redistributes healthy, nutritious food to people in need. We receive millions of pounds of surplus food from farmers, manufacturers, grocery stores, restaurants, and retailers every year. Our Hunger Solution Center has 190,000 square feet of space to hold this rescued food before volunteers sort and repack it. Food Lifeline then delivers it to 300 food banks, shelters, and meal programs throughout Western Washington - providing 164,000 meals every day to our most vulnerable community members. At the same time, we are advocating for change and partnering with other organizations and agencies dedicated to ending hunger. The Hunger Solution Center is a hub for innovation and partnership that allows our community to join the movement to end hunger. We convene people at all levels to mobilize efforts that address hunger and other measures of poverty. It is easy and effective to donate your food, funds, voice, or time towards ending hunger. Visit FoodLifeline.org and find out how you can get involved.

Volunteering with Teen Feed 🥗🌯💛 Big thanks to Russell and Raela for volunteering with Teen Feed! 🙌 Together, we prepped and wrapped 60 vegan burritos 🌯 during a special after-hours event to support houseless and at-risk youth. From chopping veggies 🥕 to clean-up 🧼, it was a hands-on way to give back and strengthen our partnership. Teen Feed provides vital services including meals, outreach, healthcare access, and youth support through their three core programs — Meal Program, STOP (Street Talk Outreach Program), and SLY (Service Links for Youth) — make a real impact every day. 💪

Food Lifeline received a wonderful surprise this week when King County Council member De’Sean Quinn and his team stopped by Food Lifeline for a visit. 🏛️📢 Quinn and his team found $30,000 💰 in surplus money from last year’s budget, and after all the headlines about federal cuts , they decided to invest it in hunger relief. 🙌 “We talked to all of the cities in our district, and said, if we distribute this surplus money, who should we talk to? — and they all recommended Food Lifeline.” ❤️ 🎧 Hear the whole conversation below. 🔽

📍 Mobile Pantry at Highline College📍 Food Lifeline joined the Workforce Education Services Resource Fair at Highline College, supporting approximately 80 students and families from the surrounding community. 🧑🎓 We distributed fresh produce —including carrots, apples, tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage, and cauliflower—alongside reusable bags 🛍️ to encourage sustainable practices. 🥕🍎🍅🥬🥬🥦 In addition to food distribution, we shared information about available community resources 📚 and provided small giveaways. This event truly highlighted our mission of delivering nourishment with dignity. ❤️
