📹 Watch our latest video from the report “Secondhand Clothing Imports from the United States to Guatemala: A Study of Trade, Distribution, and Local Impact.” With new EPR laws on the horizon, it’s important to raise awareness: a one-size-fits-all policy does not work. Policies must be designed carefully to avoid unintended consequences or added burdens for receiving markets. ✅ We need solutions that support both environmental objectives and inclusive commerce, recognizing the vital role of secondhand clothing in global circularity. 🔗https://lnkd.in/ejSHSVyp Full Cycle Resource Consulting (FCR) Planet Aid, Inc USAgain Jennifer Wang Richard Wang, PgMP, PMP, CSM #secondhandclothing #guatemala #GarsonShaw #circulareconomy #SecondhandImports #EPR #UsedClothing

🚨 Our latest report challenges common assumptions about the #secondhandclothingindustry . 📊 Research shows that credential (unsorted) bales imported from the U.S. contain only 9–12% waste. The secondhand clothing trade creates a multi-dimensional value chain, delivering economic, social, and environmental benefits to receiving countries. 📌 Don't forget to read our report and get the full scoop: https://lnkd.in/ejSHSVyp Jennifer Wang Richard Wang, PgMP, PMP, CSM Secondary Materials and Recycled Textiles Association (SMART) ACT (American Circular Textiles) Planet Aid, Inc Full Cycle Resource Consulting (FCR) Lisa Jepsen #circulareconomy #circularfashion #secondhandclothing #reusebeforerecycle #GarsonShaw #usedclothing #Guatemala #sustainablesolutions #sustainablefashion

We love seeing sustainable fashion take center stage in Atlanta! 🌿 Initiatives like Atlanta Sustainable Fashion Week (ATLSFW) help raise awareness about reuse and upcycling—key steps toward a more circular future for fashion. #circulareconomy #sustainablefashion #circularfashion
🚨✨ Big news, Atlanta! ✨🚨 We’ve taken over downtown Atlanta in a BIG way! Our Atlanta Sustainable Fashion Week (ATLSFW) billboard is now shining bright on the side of The Center (formerly CNN Center) facing Hudson Grill. We’re so proud to showcase Atlanta as the first B-Corp Certified Zero Waste Fashion Week in Georgia—and now the city gets to see it in style. 📍 If you’re downtown, look up and spot us making history! Thanks to ASHA ADVISORY | art consulting + creative placemaking & keeping and The Center Atlanta for making this possible. A big shoutout to Sandra Veerman, Hannah Bijoux and Justin Clay for working with me on the design of the billboard. #ATSLFW #SewConscious #ATLStyle #FashionWithPurpose #BillboardMoment

We’re glad to see our latest report being shared across multiple outlets—raising awareness, amplifying voices, and sparking meaningful conversations about the secondhand clothing industry and its benefits in Guatemala. Together, we’re turning the narrative from negative waste concerns into positive opportunities.
A new report commissioned by Garson and Shaw sheds light on the positive environmental and economic impacts of second-hand clothing trade between the US and Guatemala. The report calls for enhancing public education on responsible textile donating and harmonising collection regulations to improve textile collections. It also urges ensuring that new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policies consider global reuse to prevent trade barriers and preserve second-hand garment quality. In March, the Secondary Materials and Recycled Textiles Association (SMART) called on the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) to address the restrictions imposed on US exports of second-hand clothing. FOR A GREENER & MORE SUSTAINABLE WORLD. Firmly committed to building a more sustainable world, one that is more conscious of our textile consumption, Garson & Shaw Central America has started a project in Costa Rica focused on textile upcycling; called: TEXTILE REUSE AND UPCYCLING PILOT PROJECT; in partnership with the National Learning Institute (INA) Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje (INA) and Téikiq, Clúster de innovación Tecnológica de Costa Rica , a Costa Rican technological innovation cluster.
