👏 Big news for women's health in the workplace: Rhode Island just became the first state in the U.S. to legally require employers to accommodate menopause and related medical conditions, including hot flashes and night sweats. This groundbreaking legislation ensures that people experiencing menopause can request reasonable workplace accommodations without fear of discrimination, just like with pregnancy and childbirth. It’s a historic win for gender equity, workplace inclusion, and the health and dignity of women everywhere. 📊 The Mayo Clinic found that menopause symptoms cause an estimated $1.8B in lost work time per year in the U.S. and nearly $26B when you account for additional healthcare expenses. 📄 At Gennev, we’ve outlined practical steps companies can take in our Menopause in the Workplace white paper; a must-read for any organization serious about supporting women at work. Menopause isn’t a taboo, it’s a reality for 2 million women each year. Rhode Island is leading the way. Who’s next? Read the white paper here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gEB_ECuS

We’re finally seeing some progress in the #menopause space, and it is LONG overdue. The FDA's latest advisory panel, including commissioner Marty Makary, called for the reassessment and removal of the boxed warnings on vaginal estrogen. For decades, fear, not science, has shaped decisions about estrogen-based treatments for menopausal women. Today’s statement from the FDA signals progress, thanks to the relentless advocacy of researchers and women’s health experts who have pushed to correct outdated, misguided warnings. But there’s still work to do. We need more education, more research, and more providers trained to deliver evidence-based menopause care for ALL women. #women’shealth

Is high-quality menopause care possible through telemedicine? It’s not only possible -- it may be even better, says Gennev’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Rebecca Dunsmoor-Su “When it’s a telemedicine appointment, I generally have lots of information before we even start talking. That means I have the basics and can jump right into the problem/solution part of the conversation,” says Dr. Dunsmoor-Su. “Often women don’t know what’s going on with them, so by asking questions, I can help them figure out where they are in their journey and what menopause treatment options they have. At Gennev, we’re open to any treatment that shows promise and is medically proven to be safe. All women are different and every menopause journey is unique, so we want to be sure women have access to every possible option.” Menopause care is built on conversation -- and at Gennev, we make that conversation more efficient, accessible, and personalized. ✅ Virtual visits with board-certified OB/GYNs trained in menopause care ✅ Insurance-covered in all 50 states ✅ Referrals to in-person care when needed, through a national provider network Learn how we partner with OB/GYNs and practices to extend access to high-quality menopause care: https://gennev.com/ #MenopauseCare #Telemedicine #WomensHealth #OBGYN #VirtualCare #Gennev #MidlifeHealth

Many women expect hot flashes. But what about the 3 a.m. wide-awake stare at the ceiling? Sleep issues during menopause are more than a nuisance; they are a major disruptor of health and quality of life. From restless nights to rising sleep apnea risk, midlife women deserve more answers. That is why this #WomensHealthMonth, Gennev is teaming up with Complete Sleep, a leader in sleep health, to bring expert care and real solutions to women navigating sleep disruption throughout their menopause journey. Because every woman deserves to feel rested, restored, and truly cared for. 💙
Sleep struggles are one of the most common—and overlooked—symptoms of menopause. In fact, up to 60% of women report sleep disturbances during this transition, and the risk of developing sleep apnea can rise significantly after menopause. This #WomensHealthMonth, we’re excited to announce our partnership with Gennev, a leader in virtual menopause care, to help close the gap in awareness and support around midlife sleep issues. This collaboration brings evidence-based resources to women navigating hormonal changes, sleep disruption, and their impact on long-term health.

Please join us in thanking and celebrating our remarkable Founder, Jill Angelo as she steps into her next chapter after nearly a decade leading Gennev. Over the past nine years, Jill’s vision for Gennev has changed the landscape of women’s healthcare, making once-stigmatized topics mainstream and setting a new standard for supporting countless patients through the menopause transition with warmth, wisdom, and evidence-based care. Jill, thank you for everything — your courage, your energy, and your unwavering belief that women’s health deserves to be front and center. The passion, resilience, empathy, and commitment with which you built Gennev will continue to be at the core of everything we do! We are forever grateful, and we’re excited to see what you’ll create next. ❤️
Vice President, Women's Health, OŪRA | Ex-Founder/CEO Gennev (acquired by Unified Women's Healthcare) | Board Director
After nine extraordinary years, I’m winding down my chapter as Founder & CEO of Gennev — and, most recently, as President of Unified Virtual Care, following Gennev’s acquisition by Unified Women's Healthcare. Gennev was the first company to unapologetically lead with menopause. What began as a bold idea quickly turned into a movement — one that challenged stigmas, elevated women’s health, and proved that yes, talking about hot flashes on stage, in boardrooms, and across dinner tables was not only okay, it was necessary. Together, we built something meaningful. We created a new category in healthcare. And in doing so, we caught the attention of one of the nation’s largest women’s health companies. Our acquisition by Unified Women’s Healthcare was not just a milestone — it was validation of a vision that started with a small but mighty team determined to make menopause mainstream. It also set a precedent that a women's health startup can successfully exit. To my team: thank you for trusting me with your careers, your time, and your talent. You brought our mission to life — day in and day out — with purpose, heart, and hustle. To our investors: thank you for taking a bet on us — not just financially, but on the conviction that women’s health is worth investing in. You saw the vision before the world caught up. To my husband, family, and friends — especially my husband — thank you for the patience, the pep talks, the therapy walks, the late-night “is this worth it?” chats, and the love that made it all possible. The other day a friend asked about my top 3 learnings from this chapter of life, and this is what I told her… 1. Stay optimistic, but real. It helps fuel the fearlessness you’ll need to make bold decisions and put yourself out there. It also helps sustain through the sleepless nights and tough times. 2. Be curious. When I was stuck, I’d reach out to customers to keep me focused on what mattered most. I called on mentors to reshape what’s important vs urgent. And, I tapped my long-time network to help me see the broader world and gain perspective on my part within it. 3. Be human. There is nothing more gratifying and challenging than the people who joined and departed my team and circle of supporters. More than anything on this journey, these people perpetually reminded me of who I am and where I was going. Leaving something you’ve poured your heart into is never easy. But it’s the perfect time to take a breath, cheer on a business that is growing faster than ever before, and rekindle my love for white space. I’m a builder at heart. I love big, bold challenges. And I know my next one is out there — ideally with more in-person time, creativity, and possibly a passport stamp or two. Onward ✨

This Women’s History Month, we want to honor three women who have revolutionized not only the conversation around menopause but also what it looks like and how we treat it—this is the kind of work that makes a lasting impact on all of us. Jill Angelo is a true trailblazer. When Jill founded Gennev, the first virtual menopause clinic, she saw an urgent need for personalized, accessible care during this pivotal life stage. Gennev’s telehealth platform connects women with OB/GYNs, Dietitians, and Health Coaches. With tailored treatment plans that empower women to take charge of their health, her vision enabled women to thrive through menopause, for the first time. In 2022, she sold Gennev to Unified Women’s Healthcare, expanding her impact and ensuring women across the country have access to the care they deserve. Anne Fulenwider and Monica Molenaar, co-founders of Alloy Women's Health, are reimagining menopause care with a focus on accessibility and empowerment. Alloy’s platform connects women to menopause-trained doctors through affordable telehealth consultations, providing evidence-based solutions and a supportive community. Their work is also global—partnering with women in Mumbai through Tiny Miracles (B Corp) to help break the cycle of poverty while supporting women through menopause. Anne and Monica have not only changed how we think about menopause but how we can all support one another through life’s transitions. These women are leading with innovation, compassion, and a belief that every woman deserves to be seen and supported. When we focus on women’s health, we’re making a difference for everyone—and that’s the kind of change that shapes the future.

Something you should know about Gennev is that we’re not afraid to go there. We’ve covered topics many people are tempted to talk about in whispers, if they talk about them at all. Women’s healthcare has long been under-researched, under-served, and under-funded (you could even say it’s under siege...), but that’s all the more reason to have a trustworthy source of accurate answers to your most important questions. ❤️ In our most recent blog, we unpack a topic with a lot of chatter around it: the skyrocketing popularity of GLP-1 drugs, a class of medications gaining attention for their use in treating obesity and diabetes. Since so many are curious about GLP-1s, and Gennev MDs can prescribe them in appropriate circumstances as part of our weight management program, we want you to have all the information you need about this potential option in your menopause weight management toolkit. But first, some science. ❤️ Read our Guide to GLP-1 Medications and Weight Management below: https://lnkd.in/ezsNbEQd
