Welcome to GEO Academies, where innovation meets educational excellence. We're dedicated to transforming students' educational journeys by implementing leading-edge methods that empower students to complete not only their high school diploma at rates higher than state-average, but to also earn an associate's or bachelor's degree while still in high school. GEO has built a student-personalized, content-rich K-12 educational framework that provides a skill-based approach to learning. Operating a network of eight charter schools in Indiana and Louisiana, we set the stage for a seamless, debt-free and successful transition into college and beyond for 3,800 predominantly African-American and low-income students. By providing an accelerated pathway to college, beginning in kindergarten, GEO schools hope to break the poverty cycle prevalent in the families and communities of the students we serve.

20 years ago, GEO Academies opened the doors to 21ST CENTURY CHARTER SCHOOL AT GARY INC Gary, Indiana. Our goal was to help students academically and to graduate high school on time. Today, we are the largest open-enrollment charter school in Gary. Throughout this year, we will celebrate the families we’ve served over the years and point out their triumphs. First up, meet the Cunninghams. Ms. LaRutha Cunningham is the proud mother of four daughters. Three of her daughters are pictured, Malaysia (top left), Gabriella (lower left) and Tierra (right). Malaysia earned more than a high school diploma with us. She earned her Indiana College Core, one full year of college while in our high school. The 2024 graduate is currently enrolled at Ball State as a sophomore. Tierra earned a full associate degree from Ivy Tech Community College Lake County as a sophomore in our high school and will be our 4th student to earn a full bachelor’s degree (from Purdue University Northwest) while in our high school. Gabriella is in 3rd grade at 21C and hopes to follow in her sisters’ footsteps. As we celebrate the Cunninghams and congratulate them on their hard work and achievements, I can’t help but wonder what if 21C didn’t exist. But, we do. And we are very proud of these nontraditional results. This week, GEO Prep Mid-City received a 6-year charter renewal from the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. That’s one more year than traditionally approved. Why an additional year? GEO Prep Mid City is a "B" school and recognized as a "Top Gains" school by the state. Enrollment is through the roof, too. It ranks in the top 11% of the state overall and is number one in the state for the demographics we serve.
