Looking back on a celebration of the future of advanced hashtag #manufacturing and international hashtag #workforce development! 🎓🌍 After completing three years of rigorous training, a remarkable group of apprentices earned their ICATT Apprenticeship Program Certificates—marking a proud milestone and the beginning of their professional journeys. With an impressive 85% retention rate and a strong network of industry partners, this event showcased the power of German American collaboration in bridging the skills gap and launching meaningful careers in advanced manufacturing. The celebration was elevated by the presence of several distinguished speakers who highlighted the importance of international collaboration in apprenticeship programs. Among them were Mario Kratsch, Vice President of GACC Midwest and ICATT Deputy Director, and Sascha Alexander K.. We were honored to welcome German Consulate General Chicago, Dirk Schulz, and Consulate General of Switzerland in Chicago, Jeorg Oberschmied, both of whom emphasized the global significance of workforce development initiatives in the U.S. Special thanks to Besa Sadiku from Harper College for her insightful remarks, and to Mark Tomkins, President of GACC Midwest, who first recognized the need of German style structured apprenticeship for the manufacturing industry.
