Today we celebrate Women's Equality Day--the day that commemorates the 1920 adoption of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution which granted women the right to vote. Maryland women suffragists include: Margaret Brent, Edith Houghton Hooker, Elizabeth King Ellicott, Harriet Tubman, Augusta Theodosia Lewis Chissell, and Lavinia Dundore. We salute their valiant efforts to ensure women gained the right to vote. We also salute Victoria Woodhull, Shirley Chisholm, Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris. Throughout the year, she collected pennies and even sold her own artwork to raise funds for a cause she cares about deeply: helping animals in need. With the shelter’s wish list and her budget in hand, Olivia put her financial and planning skills to work. The result? She purchased food, treats, collars, leashes, and toys for both dogs and cats — making tails wag and hearts happy. 🐾 Stories like Olivia’s are why Girl Scouts matters.
