Bridging gaps in central Maryland where every girl finds relevance and thrives in a safe and welcoming space.

About us

When you’re a Girl Scout, you call the shots. Every Girl Scout has their own curiosity, dreams, and talents—so when they come together to decide which of the thousands of Girl Scout activities to try, the sky’s the limit. Whether visiting an animal shelter, camping, hosting a dance-off, or filming a movie—they’re learning to take risks, trust their gut, and team up with others for good. Created in 1962 through the merger of three Girl Scout Councils, the mission of Girl Scouts of Central Maryland is to develop girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. It is the largest leadership development organization for girls and provides programs and initiatives that build the character and skills necessary for success in the real world. While some people still think of us as just cookies, badges, campfires, and friendship bracelets, Girl Scouts are so much more. Girl Scouts are groundbreakers, big thinkers, and role models. Girl Scouts design robots, start garage bands, and improve their communities—and yes, they sell the best cookies on the planet. Governed by a 26-member Board of Directors and under the direction of a 52-person staff, GSCM serves more than 24,000 girls and 9,000 volunteers in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard Counties.

  • Today we celebrate Women's Equality Day--the day that commemorates the 1920 adoption of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution which granted women the right to vote. Maryland women suffragists include: Margaret Brent, Edith Houghton Hooker, Elizabeth King Ellicott, Harriet Tubman, Augusta Theodosia Lewis Chissell, and Lavinia Dundore. We salute their valiant efforts to ensure women gained the right to vote. We also salute Victoria Woodhull, Shirley Chisholm, Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris. Each courageously attempted to become the first female President of the United States. #WomensEqualityDay #registertovote #19thamendment

  • Turning Pennies into Impact...#feelgoodfriday alert! Meet Olivia — a Girl Scout who proves that small actions can create big change. Throughout the year, she collected pennies and even sold her own artwork to raise funds for a cause she cares about deeply: helping animals in need. With the shelter’s wish list and her budget in hand, Olivia put her financial and planning skills to work. The result? She purchased food, treats, collars, leashes, and toys for both dogs and cats — making tails wag and hearts happy. 🐾 Stories like Olivia’s are why Girl Scouts matters. We’re not just building leaders — we’re fostering compassion, creativity, resilience, and problem-solving skills that last a lifetime. If you believe in empowering the next generation, there are so many ways to get involved: ✅ Volunteer your time to mentor girls ✅ Enroll your child in a troop ✅ Support local programs and events Together, we can inspire more girls like Olivia to lead with courage, confidence, and character. https://www.gscm.org
