Last month, through Hanger Clinic’s national sponsorship, four of our clinicians joined Range of Motion Project in Guatemala to help deliver life-changing prosthetic care to individuals who otherwise may not have access. Over 10 impactful days, Alison Manske, Ivan Kruger, Beth Petrovic and Timothy Lavergne CPO volunteered at ROMP’s permanent clinic in Guatemala City, where they focused on the fitting and delivery of microprocessor knees—bringing advanced technology and renewed independence to patients with limb loss and limb difference. Hanger, Inc. was proud to support the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) World Congress in Stockholm, Sweden last month, with representatives from Hanger Clinic, the Hanger Institute, Fillauer Companies and Coapt | Myo Pattern Recognition sharing their expertise in a variety of areas with attendees during the multi-day event. With over 3,200 attendees from 150 countries, ISPO was also the perfect setting for Hanger’s Global Partners Summit (GPS), held at the newly renovated Fillauer Europe headquarters. The event brought together thought leaders, clinicians, and industry experts to tackle shared challenges, spark innovation in care and technology, and improve patient outcomes worldwide. The GPS panel featured Hanger CEO Pete Stoy, Professor Nerrolyn Ramstrand (Jönköping University), Andreas Kannenberg (Ottobock North America), Gudjon Karason (Össur), and moderator Jessika Broström (Lindhe Xtend Group), who led a dynamic exchange of ideas with the group. “These collaborative efforts foster innovation and are united by a common goal: delivering the best possible outcomes for patients," shared Pete Stoy. We are thrilled to announce that we have entered into an agreement to acquire Point Designs, a Colorado-based firm that uses cutting-edge technology to advance the field of partial hand prosthetic design with expertise in additive manufacturing and mechanical design. Point Designs was founded by researchers in the field of upper limb prosthetic design from the Weir Biomechatronics Development Laboratory at the University of Colorado Boulder. Professors Richard Weir and Jacob Segil along with co-founders Dr. Levin Sliker and Stephen Huddle have decades of research experience spanning neural interfaces, myoelectric control algorithms, and upper limb prosthetic design. This three-part series features experts from Coapt | Myo Pattern Recognition, Fillauer Companies, O&P Insight, and Hanger Clinic, sharing practical insights and innovations in the myoelectric pattern recognition space, as well as clinical documentation procedures and evidence-based rehabilitation strategies. We are proud to celebrate the passage of Texas HB 426—an important step forward in expanding access to cranial remolding orthoses for infants covered by Medicaid. Fourteen-year-old Audrey loves music, volleyball, and playing with her new dog. Diagnosed with #scoliosis in 2022, she was prescribed a daytime brace to be worn for 18 hours each day, and six months later, a nighttime brace to wear while sleeping to help treat the condition and prevent it from progressing. With encouragement from her parents, Audrey diligently completed her comprehensive course of care over three years, which included physical therapy and scoliosis treatment with Megan Chamis at the Farmington, CT #HangerClinic. Her treatment plan also included numerous orthopedic appointments, x-rays, and home exercises. To show his support, Audrey's dad even purchased a posture brace, which he tried to wear alongside Audrey so she wouldn't feel alone as she worked to realign her spine. Now preparing for her sophomore year and setting her sights on a graphic design internship, Audrey is thriving. She's excited to enjoy this summer with lots of time spent by the pool! This #NationalScoliosisAwarenessDay, we celebrate Audrey and the many individuals who face this diagnosis with determination and grace.
