📢 Now Hiring: Accounting Manager Location: Remote (preferred in Eastern or Central Time Zones) Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Chief Executive Officer At Heartstrings Pet Hospice, we are a rapidly growing, privately held national veterinary practice specializing in in-home euthanasia and end-of-life care. Operating in over 20 states and continuing to expand, we are committed to serving families and their beloved pets with Compassion, Dignity, and Respect. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to join our team and help build a solid financial foundation as we continue to scale. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and has a passion for operational excellence, financial integrity, and process improvement. Key Responsibilities: Own and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP/AR, general ledger, bank reconciliations, payroll support, and month-end close Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and internal reports for leadership and investors Maintain and improve financial policies, internal controls, and accounting procedures Coordinate with external accountants and legal counsel on tax planning, audits, and filings Work closely with the CEO, VP of Operations, and department heads to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-making Implement scalable accounting systems and processes to support multi-state operations Assist in vendor and contractor management, including reconciliations, payments, and W-9/1099 compliance Support HR with PTO tracking, employee reimbursements, and benefits allocations Manage cash flow and ensure timely payments to vendors, contractors, and service providers Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required) 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in multi-entity or service-based businesses Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Gusto, Bill.com, and Excel (or similar tools) Experience with GAAP and regulatory compliance Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills Self-starter with the ability to work independently and remotely with minimal supervision What We Offer: Competitive salary commensurate with experience Medical, dental, and vision insurance through Aetna 401(k) with company match (after eligibility period) Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays Continuing education reimbursement and professional development opportunities Work-from-home flexibility A mission-driven, family-focused work environment Opportunities to grow with a national company making a meaningful impact in veterinary care If you’re excited to be a part of a purpose-driven team and ready to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you. 📧 Please send your resume and a short note to: careers@heartstringspethospice.com
