We are pleased to welcome Dr. Hammad Ali, MD, to our team. Dr. Ali is a dual board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology with advanced fellowship training in autoimmune skin diseases and rheumatology-dermatology. He brings over 15 years of clinical and academic experience, with a special focus on complex autoimmune and connective tissue diseases, including lupus (systemic and cutaneous), rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, dermatomyositis, vasculitis, and rare autoimmune blistering diseases. He also has specialized expertise in treating dermatological manifestations of rheumatological diseases. Dr. Ali completed his Internal Medicine residency at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University, earning Resident of the Month honors twice and receiving the Professionalism Award at graduation. He went on to complete a Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of Kentucky (serving as Chief Rheumatology Fellow), a Rheumatology Research Fellowship, and a Rheumatology-Dermatology Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Actively engaged in clinical and translational research, Dr. Ali’s work focuses on advancing understanding of disease pathology and improving outcomes in autoimmune conditions, including pregnancy outcomes in lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, presented at major national and international conferences, and serves as a peer reviewer for multiple journals. Dr. Ali’s approach to patient care is collaborative and multidisciplinary, integrating each patient’s goals, preferences, and quality of life into their treatment plan. Originally from Taiwan and raised in Canada, Dr. Lai is a lifelong athlete and wellness advocate who’s excited to build community through movement—most recently by championing local badminton in Gillette.
