The Co-Chairs of the IFRS Taxonomy Consultative Group, #IASB member Tadeu Cendón Ferreira and #ISSB member Bing Leng, share their support for the Australian Government's consultation on mandatory digital reporting. They said: "We welcome the consultation from the Australian Government's Productivity Commission as they seek feedback on mandatory digital reporting. The interim report recommends mandatory digital financial reporting and seeks feedback on mandatory digital sustainability reporting. Digital reporting is important to facilitate the provision of information to capital markets and while the Australian Accounting Standards are equivalent to IFRS Accounting Standards, we acknowledge that the target approach for Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards is the adoption of climate requirements in the ISSB Standards." 📄 For more information on the Australian consultation: http://bit.ly/4nh0AYp.

As Jianqiao Lu’s term as an IASB member concludes on 31 August, we recognise his contributions from decades of service to the #IASB and the IFRS Foundation in different capacities. He was the first technical staff member from #China and went on to serve in various roles before joining the Board in 2016 and being reappointed for a second term in 2022. His breadth of experience and deep institutional knowledge have enriched IASB discussions throughout his tenure. Before joining the Board, Jianqiao played a pivotal role in China’s alignment with IFRS Accounting Standards during his time as Director of the Accounting Regulatory Department at China’s Ministry of Finance. He was also instrumental in establishing the Asia-Oceanian Standard-Setters Group (AOSSG) and in launching the IASB’s Emerging Economies Group. In addition, he served as a member of the Accounting Standards Advisory Forum (ASAF) until his appointment to the Board. Through extensive relationship-building with stakeholders, particularly across the Asia-Oceania region, Jianqiao has been an ambassador for the IASB. His openness to listening and learning has helped ensure that our work considers a broad set of perspectives. He has been an advocate for SMEs, including in his role as the Chair of the SME Implementation Group. His long-standing support in this area was reflected most recently in the issuance of the third edition of the 𝘐𝘍𝘙𝘚 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘔𝘌𝘴 Accounting Standard earlier this year. Jianqiao also played an important role in the development of other recent IFRS Accounting Standards, including IFRS 17 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘴, IFRS 18 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 and IFRS 19 𝘚𝘶𝘣𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺: 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴. We thank Jianqiao for his service and contribution to global financial reporting.

Two days of engaged discussions have concluded at the annual #IFRS Foundation Conference today. More than 20 expert speakers joined members and staff of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) to discuss how IFRS Standards can be made even more relevant to the day-to-day work of accounting and reporting professionals—particularly in a landscape shaped by shifting geopolitics and economic alliances. Key takeaways:  📝 IFRS Standards are a critical part of the corporate reporting system—enhancing market confidence and transparency—and their effectiveness depends on robust, high-quality implementation and global cooperation.   💡Investors are looking at the long term and seeking information from both financial statements and sustainability disclosures that helps them understand their portfolio companies.  🤝 Connectivity between financial statements and sustainability-related financial disclosure remains a priority for the IASB and the ISSB, and is steadily being strengthened through various projects. A full conference report will be available soon on https://www.ifrs.org.  Thank you to all the speakers and delegates who joined us—both in- person and virtually—for your contributions and engagement. #IFRSConference25
